Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)Geezer's got a ****ing knighthood and there was me thinking he already was King Kenny

Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishGood for him but these gongs are very much devalued prestige wise when network rail chief gets an MBE for ****ing up the trains.
These used to be given usually for truly deserving cases , i say usually as it’s also the old boys network who are first in line. Then phlebs next.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishJermaine Defoe OBE for services to the Jermain Defoe Foundation for underprivileged children. He may not be the most popular person around these parts, but fair play to him for the work he does for his foundation.
Another WHU connection in the honours list - Keira Knightley OBE
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishJermaine Defoe got an an OBE too.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishFrom a King to a Sir..I blame brexit.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish
Nah, they’ve always been given to chinless horse worriers first with a few “normals” thrown in. If they used to be given to truly deserving cases, Bobby Moore might have rightfully been a sir.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishTo me he will always be Sir Bobby Moore. And that's that!!! I ask you, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy, et al, what utter tosh.

Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishFootball wise, Dalglish belongs to an absolute golden age of football that was the late 70’s - mid 80’s childhood. I feel very lucky to have watched players like him grace the pitch.
The Bonzo mould - quiet and dignified and gave his heart & soul to his club
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishIts not just for Sir Ken's soccer skills , its the service to the Hillsbrough families and there struggle since that awful day.
I don't agree with Honours , but this is recognition well deserved.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish
Even just for that he’s deserving
Re: Arise Sir Kenny DalglishFantastic player and come's across as being a true gent, didn't he attend over 30 of the hillsborough victims funerals as well which i think just about did for his managerial career, had real empathy with the fans.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish
They used to be dished out to the lesser offspring on the landed gentry. These days the government just dishes them out to celebrities for average achievements or civil servants for doing their jobs, thus devaluing what could be a real worthwhile award for real achievements or selfless service.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish
Dalgish spent a week (or so) on trial at West Ham before joining Liverpool. So there's another tenuous Hammers link!
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish
He said he did in his book and we wanted to sign him but he was homesick ! After all the crap he went through after Hillsborough, this award should have been given to him then.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)Can't see how anyone can take these seriously when David Beckham is still gagging for it

Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)I’ll go out on a limb and say that he gives up a lot more of his time for charity than you do.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)Dalglish was one of my favourate players fully deserved for services on and off the pitch. stuck at the Hillsborough cover up by authorities and seen justice start to be delievered 30 years on.
well deserved.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)Pretty sure the photo the BBC are using of him celebrating is that goal against Chelsea in 86.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)And CH did not even get a mention, robbed.
Re: Arise Sir Kenny Dalglish (non WHU)Thoroughly deserved, well done Sir Kenny Dalglish
