At this stage, we are an unknown quantity under Pellegrini, linked with real quality signings, potentially we could have a completely different team - we have nothing to fear. Our opponents won't have much an idea how we will set up, underestimate us at your own peril.

Bit of a brutal April-May end of season run in with only 2 of 6 games at home and away to Chelsea, ManU & Spurs. No doubt cup runs , etc will affect this in due course, but on paper doesn't look too good.

So we request to play away on boxing day because the station maybe busy because of post Christmas sale. But we are allowed to play at home on the last Saturday before Christmas, after pay day for most the most busiest shopping day of the year.

Where is the logic?

Or is it because they don't want to pay the overtime cost for staff having to work a boxing day?

We are always going to be away for the first game and Boxing Day thanks to the bowl. It's denied but happens anyway.

Disappointed to miss one of my favourite away games and in having to talk to the family about giving up Boxing Day as it is always a bad journey to Southampton. Whatever happened to local derbies over Xmas?

Saints and Watford last 2 games have relegation scrap written all over them.
Win those 2 and the spivs money will be safe for another year.

On the contrary we are playing 5 or 6 of the top 7 teams straight away, best time to catch them on the hop after the world cup as most of their players will only be back a few weeks :scarfer:

Contrary to reports, West Ham United have not requested that the Club’s Boxing Day Premier League fixture be played away from London Stadium.

A West Ham United spokesperson said: “There is categorically no agreement in place that means West Ham United have to play Boxing Day fixtures away from home.

“It is not uncommon for emergency services or other stakeholders to make requests to the Premier League to avoid certain fixture dates.

“However, these requests will not always be granted by the Premier League and we fully expect to play at London Stadium on Boxing Day in future seasons.”

So the Boxing Day request comes from Westfield or the police rather than directly from the club, undoubtedly with an agreement in place. Same difference.

I believe, although I could be wrong, that police requested that London derbies on Boxing day were stopped

It was only London clubs that had these derbies anyway wasn't it? I don't recall Man City playing Man U or Everton v Liverpool on Boxing day (although, again i could be wide of the mark)

I remember we played Spurs a lot in the 80s, but did we always have a derby on Boxing day?

The Arsenal and Chelsea games in Aug/Sept won't be on the Saturday as they are Europa League weeks. Just in case anyone was planning on travelling!

Dodgy enough first few games. I think anything approaching 4-6 points would be a success, although you would hope with all the moving going on that we could beat Wolves and Bournmouth, and perhaps sneak a point or two off the others. Apart from Manchester City, November and December could be where we really lay down a marker, with numerous winnable games.

Our draws for the opening day fixture are even more brutal than our cup draws in recent seasons.

That said, Burnley had most of the top 6 in their opening two months last season and were in the top 4 by the end of it, so things don't always pan out as expected.

Away Boxing day is a Westfield and Police request nothing to do with the club.

They say its one of their busiest shopping days and with no trains they can accommodate all the cars for shoppers and fans

I thought you could only play home games in one stadium for a season.

Special dispensation - although it will only be for one match against Fulham (probably so Fulham can get used to playing at Wembley). Watford agreed to switch their match to Vicarage Road.

It's got plenty to do with the club..

They moved us right next door to the place knowing what the situation would be...
