Van der Sar was the master of what you are explaining with a free kick if it beat his wall it was normally two steps and a catch, where as someone like Robinson or Hart it’s a athletic tip over the bar and all the plaudits. Problem with that is it takes its toll on the body hence why they don’t stay at the top level into there 30s

I was stood next to VdS in a pub in Cardiff last year and he is a giant of a man, so I was thinking that that explains the comment above compared to Hart, but then I looked it up and they're much the same height.

I'll admit I didn't think he was much of an upgrade, if at all, on Adrian. But (and I type this as a huge Adrian fan) he is certainly a level above. Keep it up!

That composure has been massively important for our new CBs IMO. Agree about Adrian though, and couldn't blame him if he wanted a move in Jan (ideally I'd prefer to keep both of course).

I was sceptical of his ability tbh and didn't think that he'd be any better than Adrian. How wrong was I, what a good signing he's turned out to be.

I can understand why some thought Adrian should be first choice when we bought Lukasz in however I hope they can now see that Lukasz is a different class...
Too be a goalkeeper in a team that gets relegated but still win their player of the season speaks volumes..
