Signing of the summer (so far) [POLL]
Which summer signing, of those already confirmed at time of writing, do you feel will make the greatest impression in the forthcoming 2018/19 season?

Wilshere -
Despite being on a free , he's the one I'm most looking forward to seeing , with his Premiership experience he'll be probing the opposition looking for that killer pass to Arnautovic .

Got to be Anderson for me.
Pelligrini may prove to be the most important, but signing Anderson shows the owners are prepared to invest in the manager and team more than I ever anticipated.

I didn't see Pellegrinis name first time around. So Pellegrini for me.

I pressed the wrong button, thought I'd selected Pelligrini but actually got the one below (Wilshere).Colours never run wrote:I didn't see Pellegrinis name first time around. So Pellegrini for me.

Really wanted to say a player as I’m overchuffed with our signings, however it’s Pellegrini who enabled us to attract these people (and his team who identified them) so MP gets my vote. Could be our most important signing for some time - all signs point to it, let’s hope it works out!!

Re: Signing of the summer (so far)
People have gone way off the deep end this summer. Felipe Anderson is the only surprise so far on account of his price, but even two promoted teams have brought in Patricio and Seri respectively.Bury Me @ The Boleyn wrote:None of this is possible without bringing MP into the fold.
Any other season no-one would blink twice at, say, Bilic or Allardyce bringing in Fabianski, what would be called a cheap Sullivan Special in Balbuena, our routine freebie RB, Wilshere etc. I don't think they're bad signings, but the spin has somehow made them sound like a revolution in recruitment when they clearly could have arrived at any time since promotion.

Don't know if he'll be the most successful signing this season, but I would say the player I'm most intrigued about seeing is Issa Diop.

I heard Andy Brasell the European football pundit and journalist being asked about West Hams signings. He said he thought Anderson would probably have the greatest impact, and though Diop was highly thought of as a prospect Toulouse were staggered by how much we were prepared to pay for him. He said he couldn't currently see how the signings would actually fit together though.

voted Yarmolenko, just got a feeling he will be able to shine under the spotlight on Anderson and he looks well suited to the prem to me.

Me too. Think he's going to be another Arnie.Ben wrote:voted Yarmolenko, just got a feeling he will be able to shine under the spotlight on Anderson and he looks well suited to the prem to me.

I voted for Anderson (obviously) but didn't even see Pellegrini's name (didn't read the list properly as was expecting players only). Has to be the gaffer for me.
Re: Signing of the summer (so far) [POLL]
Diop and Fabianski, Fredericks, Balbuena if they deliver, we've been crying out for a better defence for years.
I think Scott Parker was voted worst signing of the season, the first year he was here

Re: Signing of the summer (so far) [POLL]
I've gone for Diop, simply because he's a complete shock in terms of age of signing, price of signing, and position played. Signing someone for big money in an attacking position is what we've done year on year. Signing players who are peaking or have peaked is what we've done year on year. And making a signing of around £20m is what we've done year on year.
But spending £20m on a young promising centre back is completely against anything we've done in recent years.
I'm hoping it's the real sign that things are going to be different with Pellegrini at the helm.
Plus, I rate him highly from watching him at Toulouse. That said, I rated Tore highly and that didn't turn out too well - mostly down to injury, reallly.
