Domingos Quina?

Postby libero on Sat Aug 04, 2018 10:34 am

Everything I hear about this lad is positive.
Highly rated in Portugal
Highly rated in Spain - even Barca want him

But my question is this - where has he been for the last few months and where is he now?
He doesn't play for the U-23s, doesn't make any pre season friendlies - Pellegrini hasn't seen him play, probably hasn't even spoken to him

What's going on with this bloke?

1) Do Barcelona really want him, or is that agent talk.
2) He’s been playing in, and winning a tournament with Portugal.

The kid looks to have real potential and looked mustard for the U-23's, but then that's boys football. Didn't look that great against Arsenal in the cup last year, but then none of that starting 11 did.

Personally would like to see him given a chance under Pellegrini.

I know about the tournament in Portugal, but how long did it last?
Three months?
Why hasn't he come back yet?
Who's paying his wages?

His agent's speciality is selling his players on a regular basis and bumping their wages. All for a good fee, of course.

Imo we know he'll be off soon, and just as with Oxford, we want little publicity.

The final was Sunday 29th of July. Can he have more than a week off?

He looks not up to premier league football physically but is dominating at his age group which is a good sign.

Our problem is his contract length and therefore what do we do with him, personally I think he’ll be off, I don’t see him getting much first team action with the attacking talent we now have and he’ll want first team football, a loan doesn’t help us unless he extends his contract

He has a year left on his contract and won't sign a new one (rumours are that his agent wants him to let it expire to get more money for them both next summer). Not much we can do if that is the case.

need to keep him but if he doesnt want to be here under a great manager then sell him now as next year we will be stuffed as out of contract. same for oxford. talented kids but have to have the right attitude.

quinna has potential for sure.

Bit rough saying that? The kid has gone out to Germany twice to try and get first team experience, I haven't read anything to say he's wasting his talent / opportunities.

Supposed.....no one has seen anything concrete, apart from that you're saying he's wasting his talent as he's paid 3 times more than Rice and isn't being played? Or are you saying he's wasting his talent as he hasn't developed as much as Rice?

The Germans seemed to be happy enough with his application and attitude.

I think saying he is wasting his talent is pretty shitty thing to say to be honest.

opinions in football. I would be happy for him to prove me wrong and do well this season with us. If not sell to the germans for 15m

This is a point which seems to be being overlooked.

If his attitude is so bad why did they bid for him in Jan and take him back on loan?

I think people need to remember he’s 19, just because he made his debut at 16 it feels like he’s been around a long time but he could play for another 3 years and still be considered a prospect.

As for Quina he is a similar age and by all accounts looks very good playing against players of a similar age. If possible I’d try and get him to sign a new contact, to sell him for £600k is rather pointless, that’s a drop in the ocean these days. Other exciting prospects are selling for millons, so why would we sell for £600k.

it's not an opinion it''s an uneducated, and misplaced view of a young player, based on no facts.

Any evidence of;

- not turning up to training?
- Late to training?
- Not training properly?
- Refusing to play?
- Not talking to other players?
- Refusing to go out on loan?
- Out with his mates on the lash?

there is nothing anywhere to say Oxford is wasting his talent, this place at times :x

Finally some sense...

The issue with Quina is that he will want a pay increase and first team chances to sign a new contract, I don't think there will be a chance of either, rumours are his wages are larger than any other youth player.

So it's looks like we will take the cash and move him on, the £600k is a representation of his contract length.

The only people wasting these young lads careers, appears to be their agents.

Some of these ***** see young players as nothing more than cash cows.
