An excellent thread. Sorry if this has been answered or I have missed it by skim reading the thread but how do you work out results vs relegated/promoted sides?

1st, 2nd and play off winner replaces 20th, 19th & 18th last season?

Denzil

1st replaces 18th, 2nd replaces 19th and PO winner replaces 20th. So Swansea becomes Wolves, Stoke - Cardiff and West Brom - Fulham

I love this kind of statistical analysis, year on year (I'd prefer 'girl on girl' but...).

I guess the only thing that ISN'T reflected is the manner of the defeat, and the performance? It's subjective, I know, but - to me - the performance against Everton last Sunday was way more impressive than the win in game 4 against Huddersfield last term. And the defeat in game 3 last season up at Newcastle was a loss that sent shivers down my spine - I really began to fear what lay ahead that day.

If I'm reading this correctly, we can go ahead of ourselves from last season with a win against Brighton and Hove Albion this Friday.

Groovy.

Also worth noting that Wolves much stronger than the team they replaced in the division...

To only be one point off last year, with the degree of change in the squad is reasonable.

Looking at our next 22 matches, we took only 19 points from the corresponding fixtures last season.

We've got to be doing much better than that this time.

Great work mate. Might even follow the treble this week.

If I am reading correctly, a draw and a win from our next two pulls us level.

December is where we can really kick on against last season's form.

1st Dec Newcastle United v West Ham United lost
4th Dec West Ham United v Cardiff City drew
8th Dec West Ham United v Crystal Palace drew
15th Dec Fulham v West Ham United drew
22nd Dec West Ham United v Watford won
27th Dec Southampton v West Ham United lost
30th Dec Burnley v West Ham United drew

Seven points or less out of those fixtures would have to be considered terrible.
