Only thing that baffles me is how they think Burnley will finish 8th. It’s going to take quite a turnaround in form... Wonder how that is calculated?

I'm surprised Arsenal isn't one the matches most likely to produce the same result.

After the Watford game, our form last year was 7 points from 33. You'd have to be quite the pessimist to think we won't improve on that.

Great thread, thanks CRFC

Re: 2018/19 Benchmark Thread

Postby bubbles1966 on Sat Dec 29, 2018 11:50 am

If we apply YTD % improvements/deteriorations to each team to their final points total last year - it churns out a league table from the 17 who were in the PL last year of;

Liverpool 106 pts
Spurs 102 pts
Man City 94
Arsenal (77 points)
Chelsea (74 points)
Man U (62)
Watford (62)
West Ham (57) - 8th
Everton (51)
Newcastle (47)
Palace (46)
Leicester (42)
Brighton (40)
Bournemouth (38)
Southampton (30)
Burnley (29)
Huddersfield (23)

The outcome at the top is impossible because they have to play each other and they can't continually improve when they are set to play teams they already collected three points against last year.

We are on trend for 8th though, and if Watford sell Doucoure as rumoured, they may well see a dip. Predatory transfer activity would see us try to pinch/unsettle one of their players as well.
