Top post from RARs

Manuel has seen all he needed to in training and pre season and moved accordingly. If they think he's what we need its good enough for me

I just hope he does the simple things well. Win the ball, shephard plays away from danger and give the ball to our better players that’s all that is required, similar to Makelele if you like. Unfortunately that won’t be enough for a decent % of our fanbase who don’t get the DM role.

When Jack Charlton was overheard getting too big for his boots by Sir Alf he was told that he wasn't a very good player but fitted in the position he wanted him to play in. Sir Alf didn't like square pegs in round holes and I don't think Pellegrini does.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him being a starter, not because he is great, but because he will do the job that let's others play. I felt as underwhelmed as others but thinking about it he knows the Premier league, needs to win the ball and give it to others who play.
Brian Clough in his heydey picked players that would do a job. Unfashionable and in some cases has-beens.
Let's see.....

That's not the story I heard. He approached Alf and asked why he was in a team full of real talents.
Alf told him that he didn't pick the best players and try to form a team, he picked the best players to fit into his team. Off topic. I know.

He signed today, hasn't played a game for us in pre season, played at the world cup so probably been on a long holiday and he isn't very good.

Alternatively, if like Perez, he was training today he might appear on the bench.

You’re right, I remember watching the documentary with this in a while back:

At 1:50 onwards

I’d like to see Sanchez play for us before I judge him.

The future here is Rice. We already have the future in the bag. This is like the Zabaleta signing last season but with the succession plan already in place.

We'll get two seasons out of Sanchez while Rice breaks in. Then he'll be 21, Premier League experienced to the tune of 60/70 games, and ready to take over the mantle, driving us forward from deep for the next decade.

that worst rating thing sounds like nonsense to me

will be heavily skewed by getting sent-off in first five minutes in first game. Hardly his fault, He was saving a goalbound shot after the CB had messed up. He was certainly back in a position you want a DM to be in

In the game against Senegal he played pretty well and Colombia got a clean sheet and limited the opposition to minimal chances. Job done

Against England he may have given away a silly penalty for holding, but let's be honest we created nothing from open play so again did the job he was supposed to do

Bit of a Terrier and an impressive passer of the ball from defence - just hope he an cope with the pace of the Premier League - people might be worried about his age but he's still a Colombian International , has amassed 88 caps and is very well thought of by Jose Pekerman
Could turn out to be the best signing of what was an impressive window .

As I mentioned before, i really wanted west ham to sign him summer 2014 as he was very very good at that World Cup
.
Therefore i did follow his progress at Villa to a certain extent and occasionally visited their forums to see their fans opinions.

In the first season the opinions were almost universally positive, and even after that batshit of a second season there wasn't that much negativity, more indifference (which given the scathing reviews other players got was a positive)

32 is hardly a pensioner and he is only on a 2 year deal, he will do for this window and maybe next season we can find a younger upgrade or maybe we already have him in Rice so Sanchez will be decent squad depth and an experienced mentor.

Rome wasn't built in a day and we are not Manchester City.
