Financial Fair Play

Postby Big George on Fri Aug 10, 2018 10:45 am

For years the board have quoted FFP as the reason why they have been so miserly in the transfer spending over the last 8 years.

This is from 2014:

So what has changed? Are we to believe that we are much richer than we were previously?

What penalties will we face if we are breaching FFP?

Or was is all typical BS from the club?

Apparently between 2005 - 2010 we lost recorded an aggregate net loss of £90.2 million, I think that's the reason for our spending more than FFP, but hopefully FFP stops clubs running up losses like that and going bankrupt.

We are also I believe entering a new FFP assessment period this season (current season plus previous two seasons) so that has a baring, if we have posted good figures previously.

I was going to say, maybe they hid behind FFP to line their own pockets.

But I think..

'Perhaps it was all b*llocks in the first place' is more apt for our board.

It definitely exists, but as other clubs have shown there are loads of ways to get around it if you want to, our lot didn't want to, and used it to their advantage.

They were the only ones to ever mention it, no other clubs our size or smaller were making noises about it at the time.

They simply used it as a curtain to hide behind, while they stuffed their pockets with cash.

Man City: Uefa 'deceived' over FFP regulations, claims Der Spiegel

Manchester City and their sponsors manipulated contracts to circumvent Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations, according to Der Spiegel.

The German news magazine claims it has seen internal documents which show that City officials discussed how to wipe out a £9.9m shortfall in 2013.

Der Spiegel also reports that City owner Sheikh Mansour provided monetary supplements to existing deals with sponsors in Abu Dhabi, where he is part of the royal family, to invest more money into the club.

City say they will not be commenting on the claims, which come after initial allegations about the club and FFP were published by the magazine on Friday.

Man City and Paris St-Germain 'are cheating and should be punished'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46109638" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Manchester City and Paris St-Germain "are cheating and should be sanctioned", according to La Liga following financial conduct allegations.

German news magazine Der Spiegel says City and PSG overvalued sponsorship deals to help meet Uefa's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

And it says that in 2014 the clubs negotiated with Fifa president Gianni Infantino, who was then general secretary of European football's governing body Uefa, to agree reduced punishments.

Spot on S-H!

No point in a "fine" for clubs like PSG and Man City as they will just swot that away. They can't even chuck them out of competitions, because it will only strengthen their cause for a new format and a breakaway "Super League"....

These clubs have been getting away with if for years...Chelski before that, Real before that...Leeds did well with their "money", Blackburn bought a title, Rangers won things with dirty money, the list goes on...

And don't get me started with cheating in the game, the dives, the wasting of time etc etc...all which can be easy to sort out, but they don't want to....

Money has killed the game...
