Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Working again with Pellegrini would be a very good reason, but still not enough for what he's got going for him at Roma, especially now Tottis retired. I wouldn't waste too much time thinking about Dzeko coming here to be honest, turn our attentions elsewhere. He's not going to be the answer for us.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
PS: By the way, Angelo Henriquez (Ex ManU and Wigan) is a far more better striker, IMO... who never got really an oportunity to prove his value in Europe/England.... and hes younger than Nicolas Castillo...

Lots of chatter that we’ve bid £20m for Dzeko. Now there is no doubt the big Bosnian is a world class striker, but £20m seems very steep for someone who is out of contract in 5 months and is 33in 6 weeks. More importantly we need the Arnie money to be spent on a top young striker like Gomez or one entering thsir prime like Bellotti.

20 million for a 33 year old striker seems bonkers. But I think Pelli thinks we can finish 7th.

I think that is what it would take for Roma to sell.Peaches wrote:Lots of chatter that we’ve bid £20m for Dzeko. Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Couldn't see anything to write home about in Gomez tonight when I saw a chunk of the Celta Valencia game.
I'd rather we went for Batman or Diego Costa. I also think we'd have enough change left over to do something about the absence of dynamism and energy at either full back or central midfield.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Everton have supposedly bid €30m.
We would get him for £30m or so, I reckon - and have spare change to either buy a decent full back or sell Obiang/Perez and get a £20m-£25m midfielder.

No way will we finish 7th. Still too inconsistent. More like 12th/13th I would reckon, especially with further disruption to come.Hugh Jargon II wrote:20 million for a 33 year old striker seems bonkers. But I think Pelli thinks we can finish 7th.

I would full backs until the summer, I want to see Fredericks in action. The midfielder...we need one just don’t know who.
Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
I’d be surprised if we finished as low as 13th.
We need to get Arnie’s replacement right though. I do like most of the names we’ve been linked with.
Ideally there are another couple of positions we could strengthen but I don’t think we’ve got enough squad places with so many out injured.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
If Arnie doesn't get a move in the next 10 days we are screwed. Mourinho famously said he had the brain of a child. He was right. I understand the Chinese deal was weak in any case. Now its collapsed.
Absolutely gutted. This is history repeating. I would rather send him home for the remainder if his contract. Obviously this wont happen for financial reasons.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
Just looked at you-tube and Gomez looks chunky and too slow for the PL (even at 22). But then Dean Ashton wasn't exactly quick but still a great goalscorer. Maybe its a red herring to deflect attention from Pel's real targets.bubbles1966 wrote:Couldn't see anything to write home about in Gomez tonight when I saw a chunk of the Celta Valencia game.

Re: Jan Transfer Window 18/19
My god Piatek (pronounced Piotek, I'm reliably informed by half my footy team who are all Genoa supporters) would be a dream but you're right, that ship has sailed.bubbles1966 wrote: The problem with Gomez and Piatek etc is that if they really are being courted by the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona they won't give West Ham a second glance.
There was a great piece in the Gazzetta recently about how insanely good the Genovese (so Genoa and Sampdoria) scouting is. They've unearthed some absolute gems over the years.
