If it were dullest sports personality of the year, he'd romp it

The word “personality” in relation to SPOTY doesn’t mean whether they are a good laugh. It’s about their sporting ability etc. Murray has been deserving of the 3 awards.

Then why is it 'Sports personality'? I have never understood that. Many of the previous winners have had no personality at all. This being the case, perhaps they should give it a new title of: Outstanding sportsman/woman of the year award. Incidentally, Lewis Hamilton should win the thing absolutely hands down for what that guy has achieved this year

Amazing to think that British tennis was once so bad that we gave the award to a bloke who once got to a final.

Is driving a car really a sport?

Geraint Thomas or Simon Yates for me.

I certainly wouldn't begrudge Andy Murray his second place. 3 grand slams and two gold medals is no mean feat when you consider his contemporaries.

Bobby all the way though of course

Certainly more so than strolling around a field whilst a caddy carries your clubs, and then having a few leisurely swings at a ball.

At least there's some physical exercise involved.

Because personality also means “celebrity or famous person.”

The physical demands on an F1 driver are astonishing. They don’t develop those necks for no reason.

I’d hate to see the award go to a multi millionaire who lives abroad to avoid taxes in this country.
