Well said Carnage

As a country we haven't been blessed with that many sports people who have been successful in truly 'global' individual sports

Murray, like him or not, is about as good as we have produced in terms of achievements, certainly in recent times

Looked in to see how the vote was looking this morning. You now can't see the vote %s. I'm getting the feeling Bobby won't win.

Wouldn't be surprised. It is the BBC after all and Bobby was white so he doesn't fit the bill anymore
I also just voted and can't see the % results!

Tin hat at the ready - The winner should be Steve Redgrave. To win five golds in five different Olympics spanning 20 years is ****ing insane.

Redgrave, Murray then Moore for me. Sorry

F1 drivers do have to cope with major physical demands, but the thing is 80% of their success is the car. A top driver cannot win the championship in a mediocre car. A top footballer can shine in an average team, sometimes even more than in a top team. It's very difficult to compare team sports with individual sports though, Andy Murray has no one to lean on when he's two sets down in a grand slam final. Short answer I haven't got a scooby :)

Bobby Moore is the only man to have captained a country from the UK to the national sports' greatest trophy, he's one of only 21 men to hold that honour anywhere.

I'm not knocking Redgrave and his achievements, but let's be honest here, he competed in sports that fit the BBC's ruddy cheeked middle class brigade far more than Bobby did, I doubt the majority of the population could even name what sport he took part in.

Anyways, they've taken the percentages down, so he will probably win anyway. Him or Murray. They're alive for start, so easier to make a big deal about that as a news item on their appalling Breakfast News bulletin.

There is only one year where you could say he didn’t deserve it and that was a fallow year in terms of sports achievement in this country.

I was talking about Rusedski. Murray's three wins were all deserved: Wimbledon; winning the Davis Cup virtually single-handed; and another Wimbledon (plus No.1 in the world).

He won it in 2015 and didn’t win a slam.

When you consider how accessible football is, to become a professional is one thing, to be a good footballer is one thing, to be an international is one thing, to be international captain is one thing, to be the international captain born in London to win it in London is beyond incredible
