Diop is young, still learning, and new to the Premier League.
Balbuena is new to European football altogether.

Taking the above into account, they've done exceptionally well and things could have turned out far far worse.

They'll continue to get better too, game by game.

There is a very competent threesome going on here with Balbuena, Diop and Rice. They complement each other very well. Rice being a natural centre back seems to be able to spot when to slot in and cover.

The manager needs some congratulations for this signing. We blame him every time someone doesn't work out. He should get the credit when one does. No manager has a 100% success rate either. I think its more like 50%

He's very uncomplicated but without being agricultural.

So far the £4m looks ridiculous.

Weird isn't it? £4m does look like ridiculously good business and then you realise when TC left us for Everton and Gazza swapped Newcastle for Tottenham, Balbuena's fee would've near enough paid for both of them. 1988 that was, 4 years before the Sky gravy train left the station. Bonkers really.

Good to see everyone in agreement (well almost everyone). Long may his good form continue.

I still think we look a bit shaky from set pieces but the title of the thread is accurate, for £4m we have done very good business given the stats. Also over the last couple of seasons it has been quite negative on this forum, especially for me at least, so don't mind if I do **** myself off over us getting another good signing for a good price.
A few more signings like rocky and it might get bruised.

Beaten in the air easily again from a corner early on today and the bar saved us.
Same against Wood in the Burnley game.

Needs to step up a bit for me from set pieces.

Best CB we have had in a while (except when Reid was good). Never gets beaten. Him and Diop are our strengths.

Weird if you've been in a coma for 30 years yeah, but it's definitely a steal, 4m doesn't get you any kind of decent player in 2018, unless you really scour the world.

He was described earlier in this thread as a 'Latin Steve Potts'.
I would point to one difference: every time Steve Potts scored West Ham won by 8 goals. Sadly, an achievement the General has not been able to match.

Looks a £4m defender. That, btw is a compliment.

Bargain for £4m. What does a consistent Premier League defender, in his prime years, cost these days?

Realistically believe his price has at least doubled since we first purchased him.

Harry Maguire was valued at around 60m, The General, in his prime years now, must be worth at least 20m.

In the main since making their debuts in this tough League, I've been very impressed with both Balbuena and Diop. ****ing lightning years ahead of headless chickens such as Ogbonna who has been holding us back defensively for far too long now.

£4m gets you nothing these days.....weak attempt at a tackle on Wilson for the Bournemouth equaliser apart, we can't have any complaints whatsoever.
