Are we West Ham anymore?

Postby Colours never run on Sun Jan 06, 2019 4:34 pm

Some opposition fans sing it, some West Ham fans think so too, but is that what you think?

I personally think we are and I put it down to one key aspect and that's the Fans in general being the heartbeat still of the Club. Not because of the new Stadium which I don't like at all. No matter where we play home or away, I believe we are still West Ham, even if I don't like certain aspects of the Club.

The crowd over Stratford is a myth, 50,000 mutes...

“Our” fanbase is a shadow of its former self...

All that remains really is the name, West Ham United.

They’ve even pissed about with the colours.

Yes of course we are. Only it’s under a different guise and in the midst of a social cleansing project by the owners.

The heart is still there, but it’s going to take a few years for the real West Ham to regroup and stand up

Stratford Olympic.

Trudge to the ground quietly, buy some merch, sit quietly and clap politely at good passages of play, a brief cheer for any goals, and then trudge back to the station.

What a quality day out.

Can barely muster up a round of bubbles at the start of each half, let alone a revolution to oust them 3 chancers in charge.

Besides we haven’t got the fanbase to fill the gaff with a passionate home support, we’ll always be padding out attendances with any old bod, West Ham or not...

Agree with Rio,
The majority of West Ham fans (like myself sadly), do not attend games very often.
I know what's going on at the OS & all the shenanigans of GSB.
Many don't know & for that reason we are still "West Ham" & always will be to the majority.
It may take a few years for GSB to snuff it or bail though sadly

Pellegrini's Claret & Blue Army being belted out louder than any home chant, at Fulham away last month.

That's West Ham, for you.

And when they do? We’re still stuck at that ground for the best part of a century.

It’s killed West Ham...

Yes, as long as we still take numbers away and out sing the home fans I know the heartbeat is still there. The move was the worst thing to ever happen to us, hopefully the three scumbags will **** off one day and we can start to re-build ourselves as a club. Won’t happen until the cancer that is our owners is gone from the club though.

I loved the BG as much as anybody but lots of people seems to have a memory of it, certainly in the past decade or so, that doesn’t represent reality. There were loads of games against ‘nothing’ teams where the atmosphere was shocking, especially early ko’s. Don’t get me wrong when it was good it was really good but it wasn’t all the time like some people seem to remember

Why do people presume that people only reminisce about the atmosphere? There’s so much more to miss than just the atmosphere.

Tottenham / Birmingham in the cup at UP would have had most buzzing weeks in advance.

Nowadays they’re drab days out where our “support” is shown up...

Tottenham I agree but Birmingham?? No chance for the majority, even at the BG. The match day experience is ruined IMO by the sheer size of the Olympic Park
