Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
Apart from Arnie who could stay if no one comes in for him, not to mention our other strikers are ***** anyway, I would from now on only pick players in the starting line up and bench that will be here next season. Including giving more kids a place on the bench that could push, or should be pushing for a first team place next season.
So I don't want to see the likes of Carroll & Perez who won't be here next season. And if I was manager neither Adrian, Nasri and Zabaleta who shouldn't be offered a new contract.
Hernandez, Ogbonna should especially be dropped as they are both equally not as good as other players vying for their position. And I would drop Anderson for the bench as he has been poor in 2019, so for me needs a rocket up his a*se.
My line up would be:
------------------------------------Fabianski----------------------------------
-Fredericks------------Balbuena------Diop------------Cresswell-
-----------------------------------------Rice----------------------------------
-----------------------------Noble----------------Snodgrass--------------
-Antonio--------------------------Arnautovic--------------------Lanzini-
Subs: Trott, Johnson, Ogbonna, Coventry, Diangana, Anderson, Silva.

Reckon we'll snatch a draw from the jaws of victory, here.
2-2.
2-2.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if we CAN get to 0 goal difference, let alone +, this season.
-6 at the moment & you would think that this type of game might help but then we West Ham fans know better than to really believe that.
That it's come down to that, being the only thing that we can now aim to achieve, this season.
Bottom club, they've lost 22 times out of 30, letting in 53 goals & only scoring 15..they are cut adrift & doomed, just like Fulham are.
Anything other than a home win will simply be, a shambolic result..

Antonio Arnautovic
4-1-3-2
I see no need for 2 defensive midfielders in this one, at home against the bottom team we should be going for it like Cardiff did against us. Lanzini with a free role, Nasri and Anderson to rotate sides and Antonio to drop into the spaces out wider just behind Arnie.

Isn't that part of the reason we lose these kind of games more often we should?simon hammer wrote:I see no need for 2 defensive midfielders in this one,
We give the impression of thinking we can just turn up, knock the ball about like barcelona, dive around winning iffy penalties, free kicks etc.
I'm struggling to recall a single good performance where we have not paired two from Obiang, Rice and Snodgrass centrally against this type of team.
These more agricultural teams - Huddersfield, Cardiff, Burnley, Brighton, Bournemouth etc - just turn up, rough us up a bit - and we have no answer.
We're fine against all the soft as anything lot like Fulham and Arsenal.

I saw them at Huddersfield. If we play like we did then or as we did against Cardiff, we'll lose that game too.
We've got to stop seeing these teams below us as worse than us. Often they've got similar skills and usually more energy, desire and physicality than us.

This team are absolutely appalling.
I'd show them we mean business and put out an attacking side with Marko up front from the start.
Create enough chances and as long as we score first it'll be a walkover.
Get Lanzini, Arnautovic and Anderson on the ball and they'll be chasing shadows.
3-1 home win.

Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
We need to freshen the team up for this game and Pelligrini needs to make sure we are at it from the start. I’d go:
———————Adrien
Fredricks—-Diop—-Ogbonna—-Creswell
————-Noble——-Rice
Antonio—-—-Lanzini——-Anderson
—————-Stroppy b*llocks
Time for Arnoutovic to pay us fans back, he owes us big time. If he hadn’t acted like a twat in Jan I wouldn’t be surprised to see ya with an extra 4-6 points.
Antonio should have started against Cardiff, Hernandez deserves to be dropped for that dive alone. Fredricks is lucky to keep his place but playing against Huddersfield he shouldn’t have to do much defending. Also, wouldn’t mind seeing Balbuena back, but probably a little harsh to drop Ogbonna.

Take out the worst performers from Saturday which hopefully will send the right message to the players! you play crap, you're out!
Depending on who is fit and what I said above:
Fabianski
Zab Diop Ogbonna Cresswell
Rice Noble
Antonio Lanzini Anderson
Arnautovic
Snodgrass, Freds and Hernandez stunk Cardiff out!

if we turn up we will win, if we take it as an annoying extra training session we'll get smashed.
can't be arsed to give it more thought as everything is secondary to that and it seems we are struggling with it already.

I'm sure I read all this on the Cardiff match thread before the game. Let's hope the players aren't thinking like this.Roby wrote:This team are absolutely appalling.

Burnley Hammer - not at all mate.
One, the Cardiff game was away from home. A very hostile place, basically every game there they see as Wales v England plus they actually have a chance of staying up so saw us as a winnable game and for them it was a must win.
They were rightly up for it and we weren't, simple as.
Huddersfield though will be completely different, we are very decent at home this season and they are well, well adrift and won't even finish on 20 points.
They have nothing to play for at all, I would say pride but their results show that went out the window about six months ago!

Deserving of a start and much needed...
Zab, Antonio Arnie and the General, Once again Id argue Anderson needs a break too..

Re: ⚽West Ham Utd v Huddersfield Town: match thread (16/3)
We've dropped 15 points to the teams in the bottom 7 this season.
Hudderfield Away - Drew (Dropped 2)
Cardiff Away - Lost (Dropped 3)
Burnley Away - Lost (Dropped 3)
Brighton Home - Drew (Dropped 2)
Brighton Away - Lost (Dropped 3)
Palace Away - Drew (Dropped 2)
If we drop (or fail to gain) this many points to the bottom 7, how the hell can we ever expect to finish in the top 7?!
