Generally, the best players play here now, although there are one or two notable exceptions, but generally that is the case, it has more money than any other league and that is the reason why there are four of our teams in the quarters. We are now set for a period of dominance in this competition. The trend will turn again at some point, when a continental team gets it together again and Barca or Juve could yet still win it this year, but I don't think so

i think that is fair
The last decade was dominated by Real, Barca and Bayern, with Atletico playing a supporting role. You always felt that if an English team drew one of those they had little chance of progressing
All four are not as good as they were, which has enabled the English clubs to come to the fore. I don't think the English clubs have got better, just the really top European teams are a bit weaker.
Barcelona will slip even further when Messi goes so the next ten years could see a fair amount of success for English clubs
Although the competitiveness of the domestic league is often said to work against them in Europe, the flip side is they never lose their edge and are able to deal with pressure situations. PSG always fold under pressure because they experience very few close, high intensity games at domestic level. That may be Juve's downfall if Serie A keeps going like it has

Fair comments Puff / Crouchy, watched about 30 minutes of the Mickey game, turned on when 1-1, expected Bayern to just come at them. The Mickeys used the space created very well and deserved to win *spit*.

Liverpool can only beat what's in front of them, they did, and by my opinion did not play that well as Bayern really look a shadow of the powerhouse they once were.

Got to be an all PL tie, City will be hoping it is not them.

Doesn't have to be an all PL tie, but there is about a 78% chance of there being one!

Looking at the papers today, seems like the other 7 CL quarter finalists should just forfeit now and let Liverpool, the rightful champions-in-waiting, collect the trophy.

Replacing Messi is going to be insanely difficult.

When he retires that's the best player possibly of all time to be replaced and no money coming in to help replace him.

Then again Real sold Ronaldo and even with that money got worse. Impossible to replace either of those two.

Exactly the same for us when we had to let go of Sir Carlton of Cole.

EFL on Quest on a Saturday evening is always entertaining as is the midweek version which included the Swansea penalty v West Brom already mentioned. The sixty yard goal scored by Stevenage with the opposite keeper claiming an assist by clearing straight to him and of course my brother in law's County winning at Carlisle but conceding a comical goal. Striker ''hiding'' on the goalline while County's goalie rolls it out. Cue said striker hurtling forward and collects said "rolled ball" and slotting it in! Talk about "he's behind you"! Add to that the crazy red cards and the odd punch up like at Wycombe last w/e. Only disappointment was that Akinfenwa wasn't in the middle of it dishing it out! Oh and a great strike by Joe Powell our loanee at the Cobblers which beat Newport!
