West Ham say pay to have your say in club affairs

Postby Big George on Tue Apr 30, 2019 9:00 am

I can’t work out whether this is more bizarre than it is stupid.

West Ham are marketing a block chain scheme where you can pay to have a say in club decisions.

https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/201 ... -socioscom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Utterly bizarre. You can’t vote for the members of the OSB, but give us lots of cash and you can take part in club decisions?

The stupidity is trying to market blockchain to people who may not understand what they are getting into.

Ridiculous and dangerous idea

sounds purely like a money making scheme, and you probably get to have a say over very trivial matters like what beer shall we have on etc...

To me it sounds like a chance to win some prizes by spending a few quid.

Looks like an even worse version of OWNAFC where that was a one off payment, this deal that WHUFC have struck is for a platform where you have to keep investing money and:

The value of the fan token will also go up or down based on market demand and the team performance.

There's nothing trivial about beer! Actually, according to Sky Sports, it will be things like man of the match.

Absolutely another money-making scheme that also keeps the marketing department happy by ticking off blockchain in new technology buzzword bingo, but will have zero impact for the vast majority of fans.

The club have for two seasons running sent out questionaire surveys to all the official supporter clubs.
Both times one of the questions has been along the lines of. 'Would you be willing to pay for you Supporters Group to be officially recognised by the club and gain exclusive discounts etc?'.

They actually launched something a few seasons back with Gold, Silver and Bronze levels of membership. You gained very little on any for the money wanted. Assume it never took of as heard nothing after that.

Supporter Groups, that help bring in much revenue to the club, rewarded by being expected to pay the privelage of being officially recognised.

I think which players appear in the team is a wonderful idea :eh:

So they want to have a West Ham bitcoin...

If there was ever an idea our owners would love it is selling literally nothing, backed by nothing, with no rights, no refunds and no responsibility to the scheme for real money.

Anyone who puts money into this needs their head read and their credit cards taken away.

**** Brady look away now******
If you want value in this sort of scheme they should have given out some with st renewals, ticket purchases, merch etc. Then let people buy some for a "bigger say". Most people wouldn't give two hoots but you'd get a few nutters hooked with the tasters.

You could even have backed it off with a % of the club, only 1/2% so the things had some tangible real world value...

We do already.

Stop going, stop spending money and changes will have to happen.

Otherwise, they'll still keep peddling **** like this.
