Whether we like it or not, football isn’t what we once knew and loved, it has become a corporate beast, a capitalist machine to make as much money as possible. This train left the platform when Sky got involved many moons ago and has gathered pace ever since. It’s not our owners doing, they’re merely opportunists who are part of the system now and playing their part in this ever growing game.

Getting upset with something like this is almost parallel to getting angry with Apple for launching a new gadget. The money is in your wallet, it’s up to the individual how they want to spend it, there is no point in getting angry with a business entity looking to create another revenue stream.

For me, my main issue is the fact this service looks to play on loyalty and support of a football team with soft promises of content and a sense of "ownership" of an issue or decision, without appropriately laying out the potential financial implications of any investment or informing people of the process for legal recourse when it comes to financial investments.

Corporations have been playing on the loyalty of its consumer since the beginning of time.

Whilst no doubt the legalities will all be covered in the small print, ethically and morally I do agree with you, however we shouldn’t really be surprised given our owners history of making money.

How is the man of the match selected now?

Oh that's right, the match ball sponsor picks them - generally who they want to have a picture with not who actually played the best.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Our Dicks openly flaunt what they're doing.

Irrelevant unless Maltese Hammer is buying them.

If you are operating in the UK then they will need to abide by FCA and PRA rules and regulations.

[quote="Big George"]This is from the website of Socios, the company who are working with West Ham, just in case you are in any doubt what this about. Obviously the OSB signed this off.

The osb didn’t know anything about this

Present but not involved? 8-)

It’s the sort of thing they should be consulted on and should certainly have a view on.

The FSF have spotted what the club is upto and tweeted this.......

This attempts to monetise fan engagement, something the leagues and clubs have committed to doing for free (as per Govt guidelines).

your chair doesn't think the OSB need to be involved..even though it involves the fans :o

No need Phil. It’s nothing to do with anything that the OSB consults on. Check it out. It’s a commercial partnership with the club. Can be a voting mechanism for best players & the like.

Everything is a commercial partnership to one extent or another. ST prices, Food, Sponsorship, Kit supply/ design. A daft answer.

However the OSB was set up to consulted on certain low level decisions, even these now will be pimped decided by block chain speculators on the other side of the world.

The FSF seem to think that it’s a matter for the fans’ reps, OSB or otherwise.

To be fair to the OSB chair, although he said it's not an OSB matter he also replied, to someone on twitter that he did think it would succeed. He said they had a similar scheme at Arsenal and that failed flat so it's not something he is championing.

He should be more involved than that. The OSB has limited amount of areas they can influence and some of those are being sold off to a blockchain company.
