Spurs could ground-share with West Ham!

Post by Cockney Rebel »

No it ain't April 1st either! From BBC Sport....

Tottenham have turned to a man who played a major role in the development of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium to help them build a venue of similar quality.

Tony Winterbottom, formerly of the London Development Authority, is now masterminding plans to expand Spurs' White Hart Lane ground to about 52,000.

The project would cost in the region of £300m of which £150m would be borrowed.

But it would mean Spurs having to vacate White Hart Lane for two seasons, and may have to share with West Ham.

It could be timed so that they "borrow" the olympic stadium after the games for a couple of years.

In Stratford? Screw that. If they want to move away from North London and allow Arsenal to have free reign thats up to them. For them to move to the East deserves a poker up the arse.

Just.

No.

Will never ever happen.

Would be total uproar so it just won't happen. They might ask us but we'll tell them where to go.

The honeymoon would be well and truely over for our Icelandic chums if they let those planks anywhere near Upton Park.

would make more sense for them to simply share with arsenal. I'd find it funny then fustrating letting them share upton park with us.... I'm sure there'd screw as much out of the spuds to do it also. :P

seriously doubt it'll happen though :P

Just step back a mo, imagine their humiliation.

Our new ground, bigger than their " redevelopment " should be underway.

They have to walk past the Turrets every home match.

Demand we play our "away" match at Wembley with equal ticket share, as one of the "bigger" clubs.

Chants like " you're another Charton " could be kept going for years.

Wouldn't even have to get the fumigators in after they left as we would be moving to the New Boleyn if the the time frame was right.

This could be quite funny, we could bankrupt Spuds with claims for damages for any breakages.

Cant wait wait to hear the Spuds fans reaction

But it would mean Spurs vacating White Hart Lane for two seasons, prompting a possible ground share with West Ham.

A couple of years ago Tottenham were very keen to become permanent tenants at Wembley but the Football Association did not want that.

Now Tottenham have again approached Wembley to inquire about playing some of their matches there while they rebuild White Hart Lane.

But Wembley want a lot of money to hire the stadium and Tottenham may only consider it worthwhile that top matches, such as the derby with north London rivals Arsenal, are played there.

So they have also spoken to West Ham, with a view to playing the less high-profile matches at Upton Park.

The problem with West Ham is that the Hammers are themselves thinking about building a new stadium, so that might complicate things too.

Another solution might be to share the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal but that seems fraught with difficulty, particularly with the present rivalry between the fans.

Consequently, there is also talk of Tottenham playing some matches at a ground outside London.

Do you know what, I wouldn't put anything past our Icelandic chums. If Spurs are serious and show enough wedge I am sure our beloved board will be only too happy to accomodate.
