Posted this in the "Overlapping texts" thread, might as well stick it here too, although in all honesty it hasn't been nearly as bad today as it was the couple of days previous (I'd go as far as to say it hasn't been an issue, this evening certainly) :

last.caress wrote:"Waiting for http://www.powerlinks.com"

Last couple of days, this has really ramped up in terms of its unbearability. Every single page is taking 25-40 secs to load completely. Doesn't sound much but it is when it's on EVERY page, and it's more-or-less knackered the ability to jump into a thread where you last left off.

Yesterday while the transfer rumour-mill was going into meltdown due to the gossip re. Joe Cole and to a lesser extent Marouane Chamakh, I found myself gravitating more quickly to Twitter, for no other reason than this powerlinks stuttering was really starting to grate.

Using Google Chrome, a browser I switched to from Firefox purely because it was the one which reacted to KUMB's overlap issues the fastest.

EDIT: And now that I've posted that, it seems a lot less prevalent! Maybe to say "every single" page was a bit previous; it feels like every single page, because it IS a lot of pages. I think that's fairer.

It's getting murder. Overlapping text takes longer than ever to sort out, sometimes IE is having to recover the webpage, and that flipping Lebera advert that keeps on making pages unreadable.

I don't use adblockers, just the normal pop-up blocker built in to IE.

I have even tried switching to Chrome, (shock horror), and still the same malarky.

The adverts seem to be slightly better after I have run a CCleaner. That is until the Lebera one comes up ok the first time, then next time goes and stuffs the page up again. (Another one did it earlier, but can't remember what it was).

Thing is, everytime I run a CCleaner, it deletes all my work log-ins and cookies, which is becoming a right pain in the arse.

But then, I shouldn't have to be using CCleaner all the time in the first place if the site worked properly. Should be able to go on it and not have to faff.

It's only KUMB out of my regular sites where I get any issues. Not just on the tower, which is what I am on now, but my laptop, and XP machines I refurbish. (If I'm just installing software, I got to have something to read while I am waiting. Saves moving).

I only want to read a site and have a bit of banter, without having to faff about CCleaning, changing settings, and having to keep logging on to pages I want to stay logged in to.

Like CH, it's bugging me to the point where I'm getting fed up with it and will end up dropping it out once and for all. (Some may see that as a blessing in disguise). It's taking the enjoyment away.

I can't even read KUMB on the bog on my phone anymore, because trying to do it on that is impossible.

Don't think I'm being moody, because I'm not. Just giving an honest opinion, that's all.

Yes, it's dreadful again today. When I visit another site - Amazon, Wikipedia, anywhere - I can feel my brain do a little involuntary sigh of relief at pages that just appear as and when they're supposed to. And Dyer's is right, it's even been playing up on my phone which NEVER hangs usually.

I hope it's fixable.

EDIT: As it stands right now, "Waiting for Powerlinks" is holding up each page by (just) over a minute, every time.

I know that UtJ doesn't like the use of ad blockers, but it's either that or give up on using the site. I've not got Adblocker on Firefox which I normally use for browsing, but when this site starts playing up because of the ads I resort to using Chrome where I do have Adblocker and the response is just fine - apart from a second or so of overlapping text.

UtJ - you need to fix this as it's costing you revenue with the ads not getting displayed!

I have had to switch to Chrome to make it just about workable. It's not great but Internet Explorer is now totally unworkable with the site. For me anyway.

Mine expired today. Was about to renew when it all went funny again! Think I will wait until it's sorted.

For the record, Powerlinks have moved to new servers within the past week that should assist with the delays in serving ads.

FWIW I don't ignore this issue, I am constantly in touch with PL about this.

As for 'overlapping text', the next KUMB front end is in production.

Is it in 'production' - or development or even test?
