Undo format (don't laugh!)

Postby M*A*R*C on Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:07 pm

Don't laugh - don't even ask!

I'm trying to recover an external HD that has been maliciously formatted.

It's a 2.5 TB NTFS WD drive that I had to format with a live Linux CD because Windows couldn't recognize the full capacity (2TB limit I believe).

A nasty cow formatted it with Windows to a FAT drive with 288GB capacity.

I've tried recovery software like R-Studio and Minitool, by combining the files they recognized (some the same, some different) I've rescued about 1TB of data. Only 500GB to go! Actually there is only about another 50GB of critical data that I am desperate to recover.

Does anybody have any suggestions for other recovery software that might give me a chance of saving a few more files?

Data Recovery Wizard may help.

As usual there's a free version and a paid for one.
