Quarter Finals: France v Germany
Maracana: Friday ~ 4th July. k/o 5:pm
Right, this is now getting serious. France have the younger legs, which could tell over 120 minutes, otherwise, there is not a fag paper between these two. If ever a match has penalties written all over it, I reckon it has to be this one.

Yes this should help Germany as the extra endurance of the older players plays dividends. On the other hand it may only go for 90 minutes.Puff Daddy wrote:Maracana: Friday ~ 4th July. k/o 5:pm

Re: Quarter Finals: France v Germany
I have been underwhelmed by the Germans so far, and while the French have been ok they are still French and I won't support them.
I don't really care who wins tbh.

Hard one to call. In my opinion the French look the more balanced team
France 3-1
France 3-1

Re: Quarter Finals: France v Germany
The French look one of the best "complete" teams.
Still frailties, but fancy them to do it, as long as the water carrier starts Benzema in his favoured position.

Re: Quarter Finals: France v Germany
If the German defence looks as vulnerable as it did against Algeria then France will win.
Re: Quarter Finals: France v Germany
I still have to stick with Germany for the team I support after England got knocked out (and a sneaky feeling for Argentina too).
Will Ramadan slow some of the players down ?

Both play sweeper keepers
lots of creativity in the middle of the park
this could come down to if hummels is fit or not.. without him the germans dont look so good.
However that said they could just stick lahm at blooming right back in that situation! wouldnt kill them

how many are affected on each side? I know of Ozil and benzema, the germans could loose ozil to be honest but benzema out of the french team...Will Ramadan slow some of the players down ?

Should be near perfect conditions for football, not too hot and I think this has every ingredient to be match of the tournament between two of Europe's powerhouses of football. I can't separate them, I really can't, but I do think for the armchair fan, this is gonna be compulsive viewing.

The only good thing that will come out of this game is that one of them will be exiting. I don't want to see either of them winning this, but have a feeling, France may come out on top and will then hopefully exit at semi final stage.

Seems like about 7 of the German team are suffering from flu symptoms, the same thing Hummels had.

France have a pretty good head to head record against Germany, I suspect not many nations have done as well as they have against them:

I've got the Krauts 2-1. I personally don't think the French have been truly tested this tournament so I fancy the Deutsch to come out on top with a enduring but convincing performance.
Or on penalties. It's always ****ing penalties.

Perfect match where I'm not rooting for anybody, but I hope it is hard-fought, edgy with a smattering of afters.

End of the line for the Bosche today. Hope they enjoyed their tourney. Not as good a showing as last time's 3rd place finish but then again this has been a much better competition.

Can't bring myself to support either of them, it's a bit like watching Chelsea v Arsenal, you just want them both to lose. Miserably. Horribly. Painfully...
From what I've seen, I'd say the French have looked slightly the better of the two, but impossible to call. I guess it's one of those where I'll probably find myself getting slightly behind the team that appears to be the least c***ish.....
