Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
What do we think then?
Would love to see Colombia go through, but I think Brazil will be too strong for them. 1-0 or 2-1 to Brazil.

Re: Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
Massively hoping for a Colombian win and, who knows? Their momentum might sweep them through. Head says Brazil though. They'll be just about jammy enough/underhanded enough/favoured by the ref to make it to the last four. And, cynicism aside, Brazil are improving. Maybe pacing themselves just right.

Re: Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
It's a tough one to call. Both the result, and who I most want to win
A large part of me has wanted Brazil to win from that start. Mostly for the people of that country, and the boost they'd get. And also, at the start, so many of the favourites I didn't want to win, so was rooting for Brazil ahead of the Spanish, Germans, Argies, etc, etc
But they haven't really impressed me that much, and I do feel they have been favoured by a few refs, so my desire for them to win the thing has been dimmed somewhat
Whereas Colombia have been pretty much my favourite team to watch
It's been a shame, imo, the way the draw has gone. The 2 teams that got out of the groups who I really wanted to see do well, and go far in the competition were Chile & Colombia, yet both had to get past Brazil to go any distance. In both games I've been torn between the team I really admire from a footballing point of view, and the team I want to do well for less footballing reasons
So whilst I'm really looking forward to this game, I'm finding it hard to get down off the fence and get behind one of them. I guess whoever most deserves it on the day will get my support

Re: Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
Tim Vickery was on the radio this morning saying Brazil, as despite the way Columbia have played, there's a hierarchy in South American football that will get into the heads of both sets of players. Brazil will be thinking 'we're not losing to these', Columbia will be thinking 'we can't beat these'.
I'm still going for Columbia though. I'd love it.

Really looking forward to this match, if only for the national anthems. Whatever the end quality, there will be extreme passion. Hopefully that won't come in the form of fouling.

I think sadly there's a lot of truth to this psychological aspect. Sometimes the shirt alone, despite playing poorly, wins you the match. I'm hoping Colombia overcome it as they are the better side in my opinion.Monkey Mike wrote:Tim Vickery was on the radio this morning saying Brazil, as despite the way Columbia have played, there's a hierarchy in South American football that will get into the heads of both sets of players. Colombia for me...the most watchable team of the entire competition.
Would be a travesty if they were to go out to Brazil just because they're the host nation.

I think Brazil will be too solid for the Colombians. Saying that, f*** Brazil, I want the Colombians to win this tournament.

Walworth is heaving with attractive young ladies in Colombia tops tonight. No idea where they've all come from. Ain't complaining.
No question whose side I'm on. Colombia ain't to be snorted at

Heart says Columbia
I've travelled a lot and been all around this crazy world and I can state categorically, without fear of contradiction, that the most beautiful women on the face of earth are Columbian, so...

Would love to see Colombia win this (I think they can) just to see Brazil implode.

I'll take your word for it mate. Whatever happens this is going to be one hell of a game. Can see a few reds being issued with all the passion on display.Junco Partner wrote:Head say Brazil

Re: Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
We really need to work on our national anthem. Two fantastically passionate and powerful renditions. Ours is so limp and lame.

Re: Quarter Final - Brazil v Colombia
Brazil for me for their passionate national anthem rendition alone. How many kids in this country (or adults fior that matter) know the words to ours?
Think Colombia may do it tho.

What happened to the Brazilian blue shorts?
