Euro 2016 Final -The Scene is set...
Somehow England have burgled their way to the Final through a combination of Jamie Vardy going on a scoring spree and Delle Alli playing like Paul Gascoigne in his heyday, where they are playing hosts France on a warm night in Paris.
The clock ticks over to 90 mins and the score is 1-1, France win a free kick 30 yards out and standing over it is one Dimitri Payet, the ball flies over the wall and nestles into the top corner of the net (a la Old Trafford and last night) giving Joe Hart absolutely no chance...
What would be your immediate reaction? (Assuming you are English of course)

He may be ours, but on that occasion, he is the enemy.
My immediate reaction would be 'b*llocks'.

have no affinity for the french whatsoever....and anyone other than he.....I wouldnt be happy....but Payet hmmm. Unlike west ham the disappointment of England performances lasts for about 20 secs!!!, the joy of seeing Payet lift a major trophy ...sorry another trophy to add to the 2016 fa cup

I know Arsenal fans who used to support France when they had French internationals running through their side.
Was one of the muggiest things I ever witnessed.

Hasn't this already been done in another thread?
And my view is still the same...support France over England? Behave yourself.

Now I never said I would be supporting France, but how much would the blow be softened if it was Payet who scored the winner?
I would be gutted but as was rightly pointed out I wouldn't begrudge seeing Payet hold aloft his 2nd major trophy of the year

Yeah, I'm going to go there...
Bobby Moore would be turning in his grave that this is even a difficult choice. First major tournament win since 1966? Have a word if it takes more than 2 seconds to come down on the side of good over evil.
Not having that bunch of blackmailers having a disco up in our grill.

The whole point of intertnational football is to suport your country over another country, so no, there is no question. its England to win
However, if the two countries playing in the final were not England then Id be happy for Payet, but only because he's a west Ham player

Would be quite happy. Then we can claim we have not only won the World Cup, but the Euro's as well

Re: Euro 2016 Final -The Scene is set...
think a tougher one would be this:
england are 1-0 up in the 91st minute from a fluke goal in the first 5 minutes. france have been dominant all match and have put a record number of shots on target, how the ball hasn't ended up in the net is a miracle. we somehow win a corner and foolishly go up for it, and a defensive header sets payet free. he's tearing up the pitch, beats jagielka for pace and only has hart to beat.
the only thing that can stop him is a desperate two legged ankle breaker from jags that would bring him down for a straight red 40 yards out and put him out for the entire next season. would you have him make that tackle?

Easy one that. Hell no.
If the only way we can win the thing is by not only outright cheating but also doing a Dean Ashton to someone, then we don't deserve it anyway.

Re: Euro 2016 Final -The Scene is set...
Ok, here's a new one.
England are 1-0 up to Ireland in the 91st minute of the Euro 2016 final. A defensive header sets James McCarthy free. He's tearing up the pitch, beats Jagielka for pace and only has Hart to beat.
The only thing that can stop him is a desperate two-legged ankle breaker from Jags that would put him out for the entire next season, cause locusts and blood to pour from the sky across Europe, and ISIS to instantly lay waste to England. The question is...
Do you take a selfie as they stretcher him off the field, or just jog back to the dressing room to leave the medical staff to get him to the hospital in peace?

Re: Euro 2016 Final -The Scene is set...
I don't understand why this is, but since about 2006 I have found it really difficult to have any enthusiasm for England. I could just never get behind the team knowing that John Terry could lift a trophy and be compared to Bobby Moore. Sickening. Now the team just feels like it full of spurs players and other crap from the top teams who don't deserve to be there. I think its because there aren't many players like Beckham, Shearer, or Gascoigne.
I cant really see beyond West Ham any more.

I felt similar with Terry,Gerrard,Barry etc in the team. Enjoyed the last 2 friendlies, now they just need to dump Wazza and get a decent kit.

Re: Euro 2016 Final -The Scene is set...
An England team bereft of West Ham players (when we have one or two worthy) and probably parading four Spuds like they finished with last night.
An England team with that ****er Rooney with the armband. Worse still Jagielka, even moreso Milner.
An England team managed by a cretin.
I have no feeling at all for FA Team England
Go on Dimi son bury it.
