Re: Germany vs Ukraine Match Thread
I would say that it'll be interesting to see how Germany fare without Lahm and Klose...but they will probably just win like they mostly do.
Ukraine have some quality players...Konoplyanka and Jarmolenko are worth keeping an eye on. Do that have enough to beat Germany though?
No. 2-1 Germany.

And Germany take the lead through the very German sounding Mustafi.

Exactly, given by our old "mate" Martin Atkinson who didn't give the Randolph foul at Old Trafford.Hammer32 wrote:Was not a free kick for the goal.

Won big on the Germans at the last WC when I got them in the sweepstake at work.
Got them again this year as well.

And Germany make it 2-0 with a brilliant counter 2 mins into stoppage time.

Yup. As Lineker just stated...they have been under pressure due to losing games in friendlies etc yet when it matters they perform. Different mentality.aaronhammer wrote:There's the difference between Germany (winners) and England.

Went a bit flat in the 2nd half didn't it.
Fantastic finish by Schweinsteiger though, and the pass by Ozil wasn't bad either.
Germany are the team to beat in this comp, no doubt about it.

Re: Germany vs Ukraine Match Thread
BBC highlighting Tony Kroos and how much space he finds. Who do we have playing that position for us?
Grim and depressing doesn't even begin to cover it!
And watching Germany break for their second goal...had it been sterling collecting the ball in his own half then A) Ozil would never have got it as Raheem don't do passing and B) Schweinsteiger would never have been played a perfect cross as Raheem don't do crossing.
Raheem plays for Raheem.

You mean the opposition never took their chances against them. Ukraine had multiple chances to score but never took any of them whereas Russia took their one.aaronhammer wrote:There's the difference between Germany (winners) and England.
Germany looked good going forward but only scored from a free kick incorrectly given and then late on the break, defensively they looked poor defending set pieces. Of course Germany will improve which is the real difference between them and England not the vagaries of one match.
