The vicious assaults on largely innocent and therefore wholly ineffective English supporters by these Russian Ultras got me thinking.
We need to take a flight of fancy but here goes:
It is early 2018 and following Brexit, Boris Johnson is now Prime Minister. (God forbid both scenarios.)
A wave of patriotic fervour has swept the nation following 'English Independence.'
Boris has been lauding it on the international stage, getting on well with President Donald Trump but repeatedly clashing with Vladimir Putin, due to Russia constantly sending their jets and submarines into British areas testing our defence mechanisms.
It came to a head in a tense behind closed door meeting between Boris and Putin, with the Russian leader sneeringly reminding Johnson that his boys kicked English arses in France Euro 16.
Boris is fuming, English manhood has been called into question and wth the World Cup in Russia in under six months, this simply will not do.
On his return to Blighty, Boris orders an urgent secret inquiry into why English fans fared so badly at the hands of the Russians. The report comes back that England's most violent fans have banning orders, are in prison or secure psychiatric units.
A lightbulb moment occurs to Boris. He will asemble the mot vicious group of these miscreants that the country can offer and get someone to train them in readiness to restore England's bad name in Russia.
