I missed both the Group B games from Matchday 1 due to irritating air travel clash, so I'm looking forward to seeing this game in advance of tomorrow's England/Wales match.

I always fancy Russia as being a bit more solid than the sum of their parts because of the huge pool of domestic players they pick from, the fairly deep quality of the Russian league, and the fact that their pretty 'tough' across the pitch. But all their injuries definitely weakened them, and from the highlights of the England game, it didn't look like they were worth much.

I quite like Slovakia, but after losing to Wales they know that they're scrabbling for that insecure 3rd place position. I don't know whether that makes them more or less dangerous. I suppose that, for England and Wales, a draw would be the best result (?) but I fancy Slovakia to edge this one by a 1 or 2 goal margin.

I thought both teams were poor but I also thought Slovakia under performed more than Russia and so expect them to improve and win this one.

If Slovakia win then two wins for England guarantees they win the group. Go on the Slovaks!

Russia were probably, on balance, the better team in that first half (which was kind of dull anyway) but Slovakia just lit it up at the end. Hamsik is a proper player and his goal was a beauty, but the combination with Weiss for the first goal was even better.

Two moments of quality and a two goal cushion for a very average looking team. Not bad!

Russia being made to look like the disgustingly beatable and quite **** team that they are by Slovakia, amplifying England's fairly crap result against them.

Hamsik is the second best player in the group behind Bale.

Firstly I don't want England to do badly I want them to win.... But Slovakia scoring 2 against them when we struggled to put one in is embarrassing. Perhaps Slovakia hadn't had 'as long a season' as we had here in England? :P

Cheeky bid for Hamsik?
