Player of the Tournament

Post by thejackhammer »

Obviously a few of us have put some money on Payet, at the moment he's favourite, but Gareth Bale is lurking dangerously in the background.

Hoping for Payet, is my money safe?

Don't think they ever give it to a team who haven't won it?

I would say Iniesta is your danger...

I'm not so sure, they're definitely dark horses in this competition.

I'm talking about Euro's...

Sammer, Zidane, Zagorakis, Xavi, Iniesta...are the last 5 anyway and were all winners.

You may well be right, but can't see it. Iniesta has already put in 2 very good performances and named UEFA MOTM for at least one. If Spain win it, be amazed if he doesn't get it. If France win I think you will be fine...

Grareth Bale has been largely anonymous the first 2 games? I know he's scored 3 goals but that's what the golden boots for.

Iniesta's been the man so far as much as i'd like Payet to win it.

I forgot the World Cup and the Euros were run by different organisations, you're probably right. Here's hoping for a France win, Payet with the winner.

Iniesta is different class. Payet creates more chances than any other player ( but not noticed how little work he does when the other team have the ball until watching him without the claret and blue specs on). Bale has scored goals but generally been poor. Perisuc is a great player but not sure Croatia will go far enough in the tournament.

Bale was class tonight but Joe Allen played better than him .

If we're looking to pick a player from the team who wins the competition then that's quite difficult at this stage as first you have to pick the winner and then the player .

The Winner will come from one of -

England - Germany - Italy - Spain - France - or Wales .

Pick a player from one of those teams and you'll have The Player Of The Tournament .

I'll go Gareth Bale .

As mentioned above Iniesta will be Payets main danger unless kroos seriously steps it up a notch for Germany. Iniesta has made Spain tick so far, been MoM both games.
Will probably go down to whichever if there teams goes furthest.

Outside shout is England going further than people expect with Rooney in his midfield role putting in some top performances.

The German TV stations love Payet. If it was over now and our lot had a say in it I'd be pretty confident our Dimi would get the award.

Payet has been fantastic to watch, Bale has been fantastic to watch. As a Welsh Hammer the fact that those two have been arguably the stand out performers makes me very happy :D
