How Ronaldo can have any critics is beyond me, I still don't want Portugal to win it though, we have 3 smug Portuguese lads working for us and they were going on about winning the Euros after the England friendly haha

I have been tipping Portugal from the start. In my job I am constantly be ridiculed over this being told they are a one man team. I keep telling these know alls that they have more than one good player and are snaking away in the background under the radar and getting through to the next round without anyone taking any notice.

Well they are in the final n ow and I fancy them to win against France, Ronaldo has never won a major international trophy and imo his brilliant career deserves to.

He will come good in the final and score the winner.

Did everyone see the Ball Boy approach Ronaldo after the Wales defeat for a selfie ?

Ronaldo got all the Portugal players to line up for a photo with the young Ball Boy in it , another lad spotted his opportunity and sprinted over to be part of it , Ronaldo then pats the lad's hair and gives him a huge smile , a lovely touch by one of the World's best footballers .

I think this match will be closer than people think. Portugal have shown some guile, even if they haven't played any 'incumbent', so to speak.

Yep, me too. Portugal are a canny side and I mean that as in our version of the term not the Geordies'. France are the better side but Portugal more savvy. Hard to call but I hope Payet.... sorry I meant France wins the thing.

In Ronaldo's defence, people may call him arrogant etc, but he has a track record of being superb with the fans, especially the young ones. The bloke has some class.

Cannot wait to see Payet in action tonight and will be cheering him and his team on. Cannot stand the arrogance and attitude of Ronaldo and hope he has a stinker. Might lose his rag if things don't go his way and do a Zidane and see red.

Really hope Payet plays a blinder as would love to see a hammer win player of tre tournament :scarfer:

I've backed Payet along with many on here at 25/1 for player of the tournament but have considered cashing out. He looked a passenger against the Germans and although I love his creativity he was a defensive liability in that same game (Evra had to work twice as hard) I may just let it ride and hope he smashes in two worldie free kicks.

On the plus side him falling just short in terms of consistency may allow us to keep him :)

From The Mirror:

"the 1980 edition was the last of these tournaments to feature a third place match as in 1984 UEFA settled on a format which would serve for all subsequent eight-team European Championships."

I never realised that either.

Don't want either team to win.

Sick of France getting to host tournaments every 14-16 years and then winning them. It's a joke they've hosted three tournaments in my lifetime while England has only hosted two in my Grandad's lifetime.

Portugal have been bloody awful though for the most part.

This can only go to two people to my mind. Griezmann or Ronaldo.

Griezmann overwhelming favourite but if Ronaldo plays well tonight, scores and they win , then can see them giving it to him.

Payet would have to do something extraordinary to win , he's been missing from too many games.

Totally agree with this, my preference is that Griezmann wins he's looked superb throughout
