Announcer: "Russia will play Brazil"

Putin raises eyebrow and stares icily at announcer who swallows nervously...

Announcer: "er, I mean, Russia will play Tranmere Rovers, (pauses nervously), er, Reserves"

Putin smiles, announcer breathes huge sigh of relief before being taken off to assist in the construction of a new motorway flyover.

See the height of those models leading the ex-players out? Specially the one towering over Gordon Banks. They could have been wearing stilts under those outfits though I suppose.

Volgograd where we play our first match against Tunisia was formerly known as Stalingrad. Scene of that infamous bloody battle between Nazi Germany and the mighty Red Army in 1942/3. That very name, Stalingrad, still sends shivers down the spine

Is it possible the Germans won't make it through the group stage?
Looks a tough group to me.

Well, that's England f***ed for getting out of the group stages, then...
Third place for us, slightly ahead of the mighty Panama.
If we're lucky...

Seven points minimum.

It might win us the group. Might not.

We’ve had a touch.

Tunisia are worst African team by a long way and Panama are a dads army team. This really should be piss easy. Poland/ Columbia/ Senegal would be a test but very winnable. Then who knows.

I get behind every England manager. The alternative is not getting behind the England manager and that makes no sense to me.

I would love Southgate to go further than Roy was able to. I think he will.

I can’t wait til the World Cup and I hope England go as far as they can!
