England’s no.1 this summer
Lots of discussion right now about who is going to be the England no.1 this summer now Hart has been dropped so who would you all go for?
Would personally have Pickford in goal

Re: England’s no.1 this summer
I noticed Butland let 5 fly into the back of his net yesterday. Not so sure he's in good form of late either saving them or commanding a defence. Stoke has the leakiest defence in the League.
After seeing Pickford play convincingly against Germany and pick up some Club form again, I feel it could well be him and so it should be if he keeps it up from here on in.

Re: England’s no.1 this summer
I'm calling it for Joe Hart, notwithstanding his recent demotion.
Hart is the only keeper we've got who has any real experience at the top level.
Pickford certainly looks a great prospect, but I wonder whether he can live up to this, under the glare of the world's cameras.
Neither Butland nor Forster are significantly better than Joe, who, as I say, has the experience of playing behind the defence to whom Southgate must turn.

Pickford for me. I don't think he's really got a weakness: great stopper, commands his area and excellent distribution. As far as his age and experience are concerned, I agree with Fergie, if you're good enough, you're old enough.

Re: England’s no.1 this summer
The only real issue for me at the moment is that I don't want Moyes to have pressure put on him to play Hart for us just because 'he's Englands no.1' & 'next year is a world cup year'.
Hart is/has recently been Englands no.1 (albeit now with some serious confidence issues) & don't we take 3 GK's to the world cup?
I would take him as one of the 3 whether he's in our first 11 or not & the real question should be, who are the other 2, with him?
Making a big issue of it, is only going to cause further issues for Hart & us.

Doesn’t matter who’s in goal, we’re gonna smash everyone anyway on our way to World Cup glory

Can't see Southgate making such a significant change. None of the candidates look world class to me so much of a muchness.

Pickford has been England’s keeper best for over a year now. Amazed that Hart has kept his place for so long.

I can if he's stuck in West Ham's reserves!Vic_Watson wrote:Can't see Southgate making such a significant change.

Re: England’s no.1 this summer
Pickford for me 100%, but i imagine Southgate will go with Hart and it will be the last time Hart will be number one, as it won't go too well and Pickford will become number one. Same as when Hart should have been number one over James or whoever it was before.
Dont see how Forster comes close. Terrible keeper. I'd have Foster at WBA over him in the squad.
