Re: How far will England go?
A quarter final - and a little bit of a confidence boosting one, via a decent game at some point
Genuinely have a bit of hope for this set of players and manager

Re: How far will England go?
Likely 2nd round, possibly 1/4 final. I reckon we'll get through the group in 2nd place behind Belgium with 6 pointers and will face Poland in the 2nd knock out round. I think we could possibly win that game by an odd goal but then go out in the 1/4's (think it's likely we'll play and lose to Brazil)
If we get to the 1/4's and put in some ok performances, then it'll be considered a good tournament for us.

Re: How far will England go?
I give you chaps a good chance to reach at least the quarter finals.
Any team with Kane, Rashford , Sterling, Ali, Vardy etc.. could get you even further if they hit form.
I don't think your midfield is awash with talent but sometimes it doesn't have to be.
As long as you have players that can score goals and a decent rearguard you have a chance.
It's one of the few times I have seen England going into a world cup without their fans all being a little too optimistic ( if you don't mind me saying so ). This is a good thing as the team will be under less pressure and feel more comfortable.
I reckon England can do well and wish you chaps a good tournament

Re: How far will England go?
You've got a point. We could go Liverpool style, or Leicester 15/16 - there's plenty of pace and skill up front to punish teams on the counter or those that play a high line.ageing hammer wrote: Any team with Kane, Rashford , Sterling, Ali, Vardy etc.. could get you even further if they hit form.
Knowing England though we'll just pack the midfield will slow, average players like Henderson.

Re: How far will England go?
Quarter Finals is a realistic target. Tunisia without their best player as well as the fact Abdennour has not been playing and won’t be in the squad. Panama are awful. Can’t see how England don’t get out of the group, and Poland and Colombia are no better than England. Get to the quarter finals and anything is possible from there.

Very decent of you ageing. England do seem to do better, when we think they're gonna do s**t.ageing hammer wrote:I give you chaps a good chance to reach at least the quarter finals.

I agree about reaching the q/f but then losing that.
A Scot mate of mine actually quite likes it when England do well, cause he enjoys the feel-good factor that's all around, for a little while.

Re: How far will England go?
Round of 16 after getting a tough draw after finishing second in our group.

Have you seen the group we're twinned with? It's been nicknamed "The Group of Life"Knighter10WHU wrote:Round of 16 after getting a tough draw after finishing second in our group.

Re: How far will England go?
I love that group, proper world cup group (Japan, Senegal, Colombia and Poland). None of those teams are clearly better than us, but none are much worse than us either.James P wrote:

I'd be happy with quarter finals,
