Hardly likely to raise standards, though.Samba wrote:Be good if it means more chance of all British Isle's teams being there.

I wonder how much Ramadan has taken away from the performance of Egypt and Morocco today?

After watching these 2 sides play, I wouldn't be surprised if Santos and Hierro are meeting right now to agree to do an Austria v W Germany 1982.
Re: Morocco v Iran Match thread ~ Group B
Didn't realise that Da Costa had switched from Portugal to Morocco.

You'd have to include Iran in that. But Ramadan ended last night.

Hardly ideal prep. A few of the Muslim lads at work have looked pretty knackered recently - weight down, pallid complexion etc. Must be a bloody tough time just to work in an office, let alone competitive international football.AnthraxDave wrote:I wonder how much Ramadan has taken away from the performance of Egypt and Morocco today?
That said, I expect there may have been one or two exceptions allowed here. I think the fasting bit allows a small degree of flexibility without contravening rules.
EDIT - especially tough this time of year in the NH, with short nights and long days.

1-0 Iran
Headed own goal, Iain Dowie as commentator is quite Ironic.

Should have left the dude with the concussion in.
That was the type of goal this match deserved.

A goal in keeping with the quality of football on show today so far. Here’s hoping for better tonight.

The way both teams energy/fitness levels fell off a cliff in the second half, got to be connected to the last month of fasting.AnthraxDave wrote:I wonder how much Ramadan has taken away from the performance of Egypt and Morocco today?
