Goals Goals Goals

Postby sutts07 on Fri Jun 15, 2018 11:42 am

Do people think this World Cup could be the one to buck the trend of boring cagey group stage games?

With so many poor defenders on display, and so many decent attack minded players in the mix, could we continue to see a feast of goals as we did in the opener?

The Champions League was unexpectedly lawless this season with goals being slapped in all over the show. Could this World Cup be the same??

The last World Cup in Brazil in 2014 did just that. That was a total goal Fest, even in the group stages.

Got to go along way for the Rio World Cup to be beat for goals and entertainment.

We can hope though.

Just checked, there was a record joint number of goals scored in the 2014 World Cup. 171.

Good stats!
Hadn't realised that to be fair. Seems so long ago.

I've obviously killed it all with that post anyway... 0-0 dross in the second game.

Don't worry, just 1 goal in this game and we are already at an average of 3 goals per game.

Which would leave us on course for 192 goals and a new record.

Early days but been a cracking World Cup so far.

18 goals in 6 matches = 3 per game

A good old fashioned thrashing, a 6 goal thriller between two of the top Nationals. A top team held by a minnow and 2 late late dramatic wins.

More of the same please.
