Shaping up to be the best since 90, even if it ends on saturday. Likeable squad in the main, very decent manager, and a fantastic BBQ summer.

^^ totally agree.

This WC has passed my expectations already, made even better by England.

Win/Lose on Saturday, I have an England team / set up I admire and actually like, I am finding my love for football again, that's after not renewing for next season. Thank you football, you are the greatest sport on earth.

GSB are still c**** though and I will not renew this season... :)

Eric Cantona's take on the World Cup, pretty amusing.

If every game is sh£t from now on, is this still in the top 3 World Cups? Of tv era, obviously. If it’s even half decent in the late stages, it’s surely gonna be the best ever. Tricky to square with how it was allocated but fair play to em.

59 games. 153 goals. Just one 0-0.

One of the best World Cups ever and still 5 games left.

Oh and England in the Semi-Final.

Prior to the WC starting I was not looking forward to it at all. Not because of England but I was fearful of hooliganism and racist chanting from the home fans. To be fair it looks like that's not been an issue and our travelling England fans are not in danger.

There have been some cracking games, seeing some of the big guns tumble out early doors has made it wide open. England have done brilliantly to reach to semi final, far exceeding my expectations.

Is it our time? Who knows, but regardless of what happens on Weds they have done us proud.

I always scratch my head when people say '90 was a good WC. I know England made it to the semi's , which tips it for you lot, but for me it was as dull as it could be. It had the lowest gpg in WC history. There were some genuinely terrible sides that qualified, including my US side. And the final consisted of one niggly foul after another a couple of red cards, a penalty and about 120 back passes to a keeper to run out the clock.

This Cup crushed that one after the Spain v Portugal match.

That's about the sum of it, Pete - England did well (although we played poorly most of the time - our best performance was in the semi) so it was a good World Cup.

This World Cup has a PL half of the draw and a Championship half of the draw, and fortunately for us .we're in the latter.

Most of our football is poke red hot needles in your eyes football. Aside from the first 20 minutes or so against Tunisia, it's Allardycian. (Panama are a pub team).

There's no flair, no verve, no panache - just corners for the big lad to knock in and hope Kane gets a tap in or penalty. The commentator on the BBC actually described one of our corners yesterday as "A Rugby Like Move".

Our 82, 86, 98, 02 teams were all better to watch than both the '90 and 2018 teams.
