#17 Russia 3-1 Egypt - Group A
With the expected return of Mo Salah, Egypt will provide more a test for the hosts, but Russia fresh from their 5-0 mailing of Saudi Arabia will be confident of getting another 3 points to all but certainly book their place in the last sixteen

Re: Russia v Egypt - Match thread Group
Russia will win this. Every single niggling decision will go their way in the first 15 minutes
The host nations aren’t allowed to get knocked out before the last 16 these days.
Be interesting to see how they cook that up in Quatar.

A must win match for Egypt. Lose and they could be out of the whole thing by tomorrow
Re: Russia v Egypt - Match thread Group
Probably expected when the last two have been hosted by France and Brazil.e17 wrote:The host nations aren’t allowed to get knocked out before the last 16 these days.
Before that:
Euro 2008 – Austria and Switzerland didn’t get out of the groups.
WC 2010 – South Africa didn’t get out of the group.
Euro 2012 – Ukraine and Poland didn’t get out of the groups.

Mo will shoulder some of the blame no doubt if Egypt go out after 2 games.

Can't get into this game.
First signs of footy saturation for me?
Or a bit of a s*** game?

Wonder what the odds were on no 0-0 draws in qualifying before the thing started?Tristan Shout wrote:Another not 0-0
Seems a genuine possibility now

Same here. Think it’s the inevitability of this one.Samba wrote:Can't get into this game.

A goal in every group game - 80/1e17 wrote:Wonder what the odds were on no 0-0 draws in qualifying before the thing started?

A goal in every game in the tournament - 250/1
I saw them and thought 'must stick a few quid on' but got completely distracted before the tournament started.
Edit - 3-0
Cannot fault the hosts for putting on a show!

Re: #17 Russia v Egypt - Match thread Group
I usually like the hosts to go through but it would have been nice to see more of Salah.
Egypt really slipped up not getting anything against Uruguay.
3-0 now. Where's Putin?
