#30 England 6-1 Panama ~ Group G
England could have to be a bit patient before Panama collapse, but this might not be a walkover

The way the groups seem to be panning out we might do better to finish second in our group.
Aim for a 2-0 win.
Probably draw.

1-0 England. Won't be easy.
I'd go 3-4-3, keep the defenders and wing backs, put Loftus-Cheek in with Henderson, and Rashford on the left, Sterling on the right, Kane still 9. If you're going to persist with Sterling, at least play him in a role he's more familiar with. If Southgate wants to stick with the current formation, pick Rashford.

Ok, let's all admit what we're all really thinking:
An easy win for England. Put your house on it. Looking at the table & seeing 6 lovely points, already.
Except, this is England. We've been let down, far too many times before. This is potentially one of our biggest banana skins that we've ever faced & yet we're all still secretly counting our domesticated fowl, before they're even hatched. Except Dan, probably, which is maybe wise.
I'm expecting a win for us but am prepared to see a disaster & then us HAVING to beat Belgium, to continue.
I think I've hedged my bets enough, on this match..

I'd happily take a 1-0 win to guarantee qualification.
Dare I say it but, maybe apart from Croatia last night against Argentina, England have played the best 90mins of football of the tournament so far.
I genuinely think we have a chance of winning the World Cup. I've not felt that since 1998.

Rotate the squad ... in Rose, Loftus Cheek, Rashford, Dier, Cahill ....
Rest ... Young, Dele, Stirling, Lingard, Walker
No point risking injury and gives other players a 'feel' for the World Cup ... should it all go tits up we will have a mega bench if needed .......

Kane to get two and people to post essays on why he’s not as good as Arnautovichammers92 wrote:3-0 win and posters rioting because we haven’t won by 5

This is probably the best opportunity that Kane's going to have to get the golden boot, he really needs to score a couple today.

You may be right, but I’d like to see Sterling grab a couple and get him ready and firing. It does us no good if his confidence is shot.Harry Hound wrote:This is probably the best opportunity that Kane's going to have to get the golden boot, he really needs to score a couple today.

I have confidence in Southgate. He knows how England failed to do the job in the past, he knows we can't just turn up.
The players clearly believe in him, he will be in their heads the need to kill off a side.
I have hope we can get the job done today in a very German way. (obviously not the Germany of last night)
2 - 0.

I agree although I wouldn’t ‘rest’ Young, Dele, Stirling and Lingard I would drop them. They were all crap against Tunisia. If we score early I’ll go 4-0.IronworksDave wrote:Rotate the squad ... in Rose, Loftus Cheek, Rashford, Dier, Cahill ....
