#36 Iran 1-1 Portugal ~ Group B

Post by Puff Daddy »

Portugal may settle for a draw from this match, but Iran can still qualify from this group and might take the game to Portugal but the tournament does need Cristiano Ronaldo, no matter what your opinion

Can Iran do it?
I doubt it but I would love it.
As Puff said & like Spain, Portugal could get away with just a draw.
However, how dangerous could that be for Portugal if Iran were to then nick it?
Therefore, both teams will probably be going all out, for the win.
Should be quite a game! BBC4 7pm.
What are the odds on it NOT being 0-0? Not very good, I would think..

I'm going for one of the shocks of the World Cup.

Portgual will set up for the draw. They weren't that great against Morocco. Iran has looked better than you would expect.

It's late in the game and 0 - 0, squeaky bum time. Iran get a late goal and go through.

Ronaldo out in tears.

Iran 1 - 0 is 12/1

Iran are a robust team, If Portugal get anything from this game, they would have had to work hard for it.

A part of me would love Iran to somehow win this and for Ronaldo to bawl his eyes out

But from a football perspective, they might be up there with Tunisia as the most cynical and least enjoyable team to watch in the whole tournament (not including Poland who simply didn’t turn up)

For the sake of the game would prefer Portugal and Spain through

Can't see Iran taking this to Ronaldo, they're more likely to sit back and look to counter. Hopefully Ronaldo scores early on and opens the game up, but Ronaldo only needs to draw to go through.

Just been informed that some Iranian fans rocked up at Portugal's hotel last night and started an awful row with those shapour vuvuzela-things you can hear now. Attempting to prevent the Portuguese team from sleeping, they then fought with the old bill who came to remove them. Bad darts etc.

Surprised they didn’t leave an IED at the hotel.

Iran doing their job really, keep it level and try steal a winner. Been the most impressive of the lesser sides, not great to watch but very solid and competitive.

Loving how the Iran striker is following Carvalho around like a dingo on a wounded heifer.

Dreadful, atonal drone. Can’t stand that racket.

Vuvuzelas are annoying, too.
