I'm afraid in this game, Russia are выебанная.

Re: Spain v Russia - Match thread~ Round of 16
Spain have not impressed me at all so I will be having a cheeky flutter on the hosts to cause an upset here.
A 1-0 win over Iran (thanks to the ball being kicked at Costa and flying in) mixed with conceding three to Portugal and two to Morocco.
Admittedly they have also scored 3 and 2 respectively in those games, but this just isn't the world beating 'tiki taki' Spain team we all know and love to watch.

I was at the 2008 SF-Spain-Russia. I think Russia wants some revenge plus they'll have massive home support. Spain is not as good as before. Russia may nick this one, 2-1 to the KOKHY Boys

That would be something if they do. Was just coming to this thread o say that I look forward to the national anthems. Russia will crush Spain there at least. I don't know how a country can have a wordless national anthem and expect to get the juices pumping before a WC match. (although I think Argentina managed to pull it off earlier)

Ha ... the wonderful irony of a player who is concentrating more on rugby tackling a player than on defending the ball, scoring the own goal!! That sort of cheating totally deserved the end result, even if the player that was tackled was Ramos.vietnammer wrote:1-0 Spain lead og

Russia needs to get stuck in or this is going to end up being a tedious match.

We have Derek Rae (very good) and Aly Wagner...
Is it too misogynistic to want a man commentator on the men's world cup ???

Yeah, she does grate a bit. For me it’s not because she’s a she but the manner in which she speaks. She’s very colloquial and she speaks with the cadence of a Mexican Spanish speaker. She sounds like she’s trying to imitate a Mexican speaking English. I know she’s from LA, but she sounds odd. In terms of knowledge, she’s fine.

Russia’s just letting them do it though.if they’re just going to sit back and let them pass from side to side they’ll be more than happy to oblige.

Re: Spain v Russia - Match thread~ Round of 16
but why do we need a "woman's perspective ?"
just to show that Fox is "equal ?"
I don't remember men commentating on the woman's w.c. but then again I don't watch the women's world cup..
Yes she has played at the highest woman's level, but shirley there are enough blokes to go around ?
and YES, I don't want women on the sideline at the NFL but they chuck 'em in..usually in tight outfits and glamorously made up...
We have Kate Abdo on here the other day, even my temporary house mate (who is female) said "Is she wearing a cocktail dress ?" and check out her background..she is right up there - worked for Sky in Europe, speaks 4 languages, presented the Ballon D'Or and interviewed the prospective winners etc pretty much in their own language.....but seems to be here only for a bit of glamour and to ask the "experts" their opinion..
And yeah Pete, I don't like Aly Wagner's cadence either.....
