Equally unusually we seem to be playing better in the second half!

Dier actually appears to be one of our most positive players right now.Samba wrote: Yes it was. Not just dire.

@ CA I mean like now we're still playing the same way. Rashford (pacey) down the middle RLC (slower/passer) on the right. Why not just mix it up a bit switch it around. I guess Vardy will get his customary 5 min to score a goal towards the end if we're still trailing.
Great chance and unlucky from Dier...twice should've done better with the header.
Having said all of this Dier does at least appear much higher up the pitch in the last 10 or so

Fantastic break by Belgium. Well done Pickford!

I thought Kane had gone off & Dier was playing centre-forward, for a minute!Eggchaser wrote:Dier actually appears to be one of our most positive players right now.

We're really pushing for the equaliser.
Save by Pickford!
Shame, probably 4th place now.

Perfect example just now of Englands problem.
Belgium break quickly, first time cross & shot, great save from Pickford.
England go up the other end, Delph turns and holds the ball up instead of crossing to Kane & Loftus-Cheek in the area.
Game over.

Well we had a few more shots in this one, more than the Belgians and more on target. Therefore we won 6-4 with shots on target which, I think is a far more gentlemanly way to declare a victor than merely goals scored....more tea anyone

A fair result.
England, 4th best in the world.
I can live with that.

Now I think the post mortem should begin. Were we really as good as all that ?

We weren't the 4th best team there.Puff Daddy wrote:Now I think the post mortem should begin. Were we really as good as all that ?

If only that were the case. We got very lucky with our fixtures and had a relatively easy group. We narrowly beat Tunisia, convincingly beat Panama, beat Columbia on penalties and beat Sweden. We've lost 3 times this tournament and been beaten convincingly twice by Belgium. It looks to me like it's very much business as usual.Samba wrote:A fair result.

Other than not getting two clear penalties against Tunisia who we beat anyway we can't say the refereeing, VAR or bad luck are the reasons we are going home early. This group of young players did their best and lost to better teams not luckier teams. They did all they could and I can't grumble with that.

See I have a massive problem with this! The other day that nick chap wasn't "towing the company line" on England and get plenty of abuse, just because people see football different doesn't mean either side is wrong, thick or stupid, it's Football. It's almost becoming like you can't have an anti opinion of something, not a clue what Voronin said.somerset-hammer wrote:Please guys, do not encourage fmgod..

Nothing against you personally fmgod, but throughout you have just been a bit negative, instead of enjoying the moment you would pick the bones out of our performances and tell us all why wouldn't win it, (we all knew that, but no harm in dreaming)
Apologies for digging you out, of course you and everyone else are entitled to their opinion.
