Brazilian striker Jo has joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City with an option for it to be made permanent. Real Madrid's sporting director, Miguel Pardeza, has claimed that the club are not interested in luring Cesc Fabregas to the Bernabeu. "He is a great player, there's no doubt about that," Pardeza said. "But at this moment he is not an target for Real Madrid."

Peter Crouch, Portsmouth
Wants to leave the South coast club, with its uncertainties over ownership, and his preferred destination is Tottenham, though there are doubts about chairman Daniel Levy's willingness to pay the £70,000-a-week salary he is asking for. The contract offer on the table at Spurs leaves Crouch liable to take a £2m drop in wages over three years and at 28 his prime earning time as a striker will be running out. Fulham and Sunderland would be willing to pay him the requisite wage. It now depends on Levy's willingness to budge.

If Crouch does leave Pompey, they either

1. Get taken over and re-build practically an entire team, or

2. Don't get taken over and 'do a Derby'.
