In total, there are (will be) 4 McDonald's within the Olympic Village - two for the public, one for the press and one for the athletes. Both of the last two will not be accessible to the general public.steptoe61 wrote:Great bit of munch for the olympic athletes...

Apart from the fact that there is a great big road (dual carriageway) and huge great fence in the way.Sweeney Bod wrote: The supporters would not actually have to go into the main complex. I can not see how the police can stop any fans,(apart from away fans), walking to the ground via Westfields.
Westfields has not been designed for access to the Olympic site, even though its right next door.
My guess is there will be only one or maybe two entrances to the OS site and they will be well away from the back of Westfield shopping. Remember parking is another issue, there is no way they will want another 10,000+ cars on a match day using their car parks. They were designed for shoppers so they will make it as awkward as possible to get from there to the stadium.
It looks like they have two spectator dropoff zones that appear to be mles away so suspect its apark and ride, ualthough there does seem to be walking access from the greenway which links to the main entrance at the back end of where Carpenters road is.
Edit.
Although having said all that the main entrance does appear to be slap bang at the back of Stratford city.

I have been to Westfields. Yes there is a road between the park and the station, it is not a dual carriageway. The Swimming Complex is within spitting distance of the edge of the exterior Westfields' complex, and the stadium a little way further. When you go to Stratford, there is one main route from the station to the stadium and that is over the bridge and through the complex

yeh which means walking through Westfield on a match day.Sweeney Bod wrote:I have been to Westfields. Yes there is a road between the park and the station, it is not a dual carriageway. I just cant see the police or Westfield allowing it, remember there are loads more transport options and hence people could come form all sorts of directions, unlike the current UP option which I would guess is easier to police, one route on and one out.
what would they do for instance if we drew Millwall in the cup again? They just would refuse the game to go ahead.

Re: Food Options
Westfield isn't designed to act as a throughfare for sports crowds, you would have thought they would have foreseen it.
I think Stratford Stration will struggle as well.
But there's several potential options:
After the park re-opens after the games, in about 2014, there will be more entrances to it, the Greenway will be the best for people coming from both Stratford and West Ham stations.
It would be logical to encourage people to use that I think.
Coming out of the new exit to Stratford station we might also be able to follow the service road between Stratford City and Stratford station.
I suspect that there will be a more direct route though, as I imagine that Carpenters Road and Warton Road will have pedestrian access to the park where the roads used to go.
Of course there's also lots of other stops such as Maryland, Pudding Mill Lane, Hackney Wick which will offer other routes.
Away coaches could be parked in a range of places. If we played Millwall, those wishing a police escort would probably be brought along Greenway in groups from West Ham station.

Pudding Mill Lane is not going to be put to use, surely; its platforms are shorter than the DLR trains.

Re: Food Options
After. It'll be closed for the Olympics as it's too small. It'll be knocked down to make way for Crossrail developments and rebuilt, bigger and better, some time after the games. Crossrail is due in 2018-19 but I'm not sure whether the station will reopen sooner.prophet:marginal wrote:They're cutting it a bit fine ~ or, when you mean soon, do you mean after the Olympic Games?

So, at the earliest we could foreseeably move there, it won't have been redeveloped?

Re: Food Options
Not really by reference to the name. What a pudding mill is anyway is anyone's guess.the pink palermo wrote:Are you discussing Pudding mill lane because this is the food options thread ?
But, the point was made that it would be exclusively Stratford through which people would travel to get to the ground.
It seems to me that, if PML, Hackney Wick and Maryland are the alternatives, the majority will plump for Stratford.
