Seeing as I'm not au fait with legal matters, in layman terms, could this be a case of the squeaky wheel gets the oil?

Confident they will lose this appeal just like they did the first.
This
I think we will eventually find out that spuds aint getting money towards their stadium. What they are getting is a reduction in the monies they have to spend in revamping Haringey and the surrounding areas of their ground. Under their development plans, they had to spend upwards of £100m to do up local sections of Haringey - they probably wont be paying this now. They will still have to fork out over £400m for their stadium and Hotel etc...
I suspect that this will reduce their chances of spending big money in any transfer windows for quite some time unless they sell first. nI am still convinced that Modric will go. I see them snapping up loans like adebayor and young players like they did before. Bit of luck we have a new scouting network to ensure they dont get all of them....

Or it could just mean they want a court ruling that a running track remains a permanent feature of thye Stratford stadium forever .Persil Tickets wrote:Kind of glad they are continuing with their request for a judicial review if it means that they were not offered any serious cash from the government for their plans to build a new stadium in N17.

Very good point but to be honest I am not one of these dreamers who believes that one day the running track would not be there. Hence why I voted against the move on the online poll. I will still go along though, you still planning to withdraw your custom?

Of which 100% of it has to be paid back to Newham AND they are in for a cut of profits from there on. Probably the only ever government loan that actually will be paid back plus more. Unlike spurs who don't want a loan but just want to have certain parts of their rebuild paid for.mywhufc wrote:You can't rant and rave about the country being on it's uppers with cuts left right and centre and money then being given to help totts bid to build a new stadium in their manor when our bid is over 75% government money.

My views are well known to readers of the board .Persil Tickets wrote: I will still go along though, you still planning to withdraw your custom?
FWIW, I never , ever believed Tottenham were interested in Stratford .Their motives were to grab a handout and make life difficult for us .The fact so many of our fans have done an about turn when the "Tottenham threat" was in full hype I found disappointing .
I repeat my suspicions that they have now been goven the nod on funding for Nortumberland park , and are merely making absolutely sure they screw us over for ever .
The Olympic Stadium will be an unmitigated disaster with a running track - and everybody knows it .
When Tottenham disappear back to their North London hovel , a few more will admit it .
Too late . Too bloody late .

This is my opinion too. I will still go over there but I fear the worse.
Re: Breaking news - Spuds to abandon judicial review
Oh yes you can, we didn't ask for the Olympic Stadium to be built it was going to be built anyway....mywhufc wrote:You can't rant and rave about the country being on it's uppers with cuts left right and centre and money then being given to help totts bid to build a new stadium in their manor when our bid is over 75% government money.
And it was going to be sold of to somebody at a knockdown price anyway....
That's a totally different proposition to asking for public money for a stadium that you want to build for your use only....
We're buying a second hand stadium that if we didn't buy somebody else would, they're asking for a brand new stadium in a place of their choice for nobody to use but them...
The two things couldn't be more different.

Re: Breaking news - Spuds to abandon judicial review
According to today's Standard seems as though they may get £8m:
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/ ... ot-cash.do
Full article at:Boris Johnson is to offer Tottenham Hotspur a huge cash injection in a move that could finally end the battle over the Olympic Stadium, the Standard can reveal.
The Mayor is proposing to use almost half of the £20 million given by the Treasury to rebuild riot-damaged Tottenham and Croydon to help the football club push through its plans for a new 56,250-seat stadium.
It would allow the football club to press ahead with its £400 million redevelopment of White Hart Lane rather than continue its court bid to gain control of the Olympic Stadium, which has been awarded to West Ham United.
Senior City Hall sources today told the Standard that a deal is on the table that will mean the Mayor's office will be responsible for more than £8 million worth of regeneration around the new stadium development, meaning that the planning application can finally go through.
It is also believed that Mr Johnson will consider buying some of the land around the stadium, which could then be used by the Greater London Authority to encourage businesses back into the area by offering "regeneration perks".

If newhams money is a loan that is going to be paid back why are they getting 50% ownership of the stadium, more like their money secures them part ownership of stadium and any profit they make goes into their coffers. Once they have got back their outlay are they giving up their part of ownership, no they are not, so it's not a loan.BSB1 wrote:[Of which 100% of it has to be paid back to Newham AND they are in for a cut of profits from there on. Spurs are not after money for new stadium they want government money to regenerate the rest of the area and improve the transport facilities.
If spurs get their new stadium and we go into Stratford with it's running track and all the only losers will be the many west ham fans that don't want to go to an athletics stadium, that if you all remember when it was in design stage west ham offered 100 mill for it to be built as a proper multi us stadium with retractable seating, but we were told there will be no football in tha stadium it's not needed to make it run.

Re: Breaking news - Spuds to abandon judicial review
If what I have read on this forum is true the government have now set in stone that even if there were to be a review and the selection process for the successful bidder opened again, then the eventual winner has to accept that the running track remains. This effectively would put Spurs out of the running leaving us as the only bidder.Big George wrote[/b]according to The Telegraph's Paul Kelso, Tottenham's judical reviwe application isn't just going ahead in the High Court but is likely to succeed
It might take longer than initially envisaged but I still have no doubt that we will move into the stadium albeit perhaps without Newham as our partner.

From what I've read of his previous stuff he's been pro Spurs and is probably getting info from their side.

Re: Breaking news - Spuds to abandon judicial review
I love the angst about Spuds getting public money. Where did the half a billion come from to build the O.S? Neither clubs' multi millionaire owners should get any public money whatsoever.
It's all a bloody conspiracy! We bid for the O.S. > Gets opposed by Spuds > Ensures maximum support amongst the W Ham fans and disquiet amongst theirs > Spuds launch JR > Bid for new ground in Harringey > Drop opposition > Everyone's happy (except us and our binoculars).
ps David Dein shot JFK!
