It would spot-on if he was the Architect but HE IS NOT THE STADIUM ARCHITECT he is an architect who worked on the proposals but had nothing to do with the stadium design.

From the Daily Snail:

The Olympic Park Legacy Company are underwhelmed by architect Steve Lawrence outing himself as the previously anonymous complainant to the European Union about West Ham inheriting the Stratford stadium, leading to Sky Sports describing him as the 'mastermind' of the Olympic Park.
OPLC board members claim 'fantasist' Lawrence's only involvement in the project was providing some sketches when the BOA first mooted Stratford as a potential Games venue in 1997.

From The Standard:

Mr Lawrence was commissioned by Stratford Development Partnerships more than a decade ago to carry out a feasibility study for the Olympics on Stratford Rail Lands, once it became clear that Wembley was not a viable site for the Games.

It's hard work sometimes, just a little research reveals that the guy is just your average architect who runs a rent a desk business and certainly no big shot Olympic Stadium designer.

Almost everyone is against this move mate, do you still think it's in the clubs interest to move there?

I have said this all along Paul, in its current configuration the O/S is not best suited for football, however as I have no detailed knowledge of how they intend to make it more suitable for football that is not grounds to condemn the proposed move, similarly I would not vote for the move as things stand at present either.

I will however campaign against misinformation like this guy being a major player on the Olympic Site nor do I believe your statement that almost everyone is against the move.

FWIW I watched a Rugby match at my daughters university a few weeks ago, the pitch is surrounded by a running track and despite no stands the view from behind the track wasn't that bad.

How do you feel about this?

I think it fairly clear that most people are against the move, im quite surprised you would even question this, you only have to look at this forum, you've even said yourself that you would not vote for the move as things stand, surely this would make you againt the move unless the club persuads you otherwise?

paul, not being in favour of something is NOT the same thing as being against it!

FWIW, your conclusion that "most people are against the move" based on wwhat is written here is also flawed - I rarely check out the OS forum, let alone contribute, as there's not much point in my opinion. I bet there are quite a few like me.

Fair point although I was using an example, im basing it on nearly every single west ham fan I have spoken to in the last 2 months. Previously, in the first bid it was 50/50 but im not so sure that's the case at the moment!

Simple way to find out how many want to move - hold a poll.
Not the one on this thread that is headed 'New' but is about a year old, but an independent poll of members & season ticket holders -as Everton did before they decided whether to move from Goodison.

Does the fact that the club are taking no action on organising this (if they ever intended to) suggest that they know the answer wouldn't suit their plans?

That's not that relevant, I have made my position perfectly clear, I will not vote for the move unless I have the information to enable me make an informed decision.

Actually just to take you up on this point, the answer is probably yes..........and no, I do believe that the people running the club have a better idea of what's good the future of the club as a business than the average fan and are hardly going to move there on a wing and a prayer, however no matter what they do to convert the stadium it ain't going to suit all the fans because it will not be the Boleyn Ground and all that it stands for.

To be fair Paul he has always been 'on the fence'

Most people are not against the move. Most people are waiting to see what happens.

It will never happen they will never move Athletics to the warm up track.

We would probably have more success there ourselves. I did ask David Gold and my mate Ian at West Ham if it was viable for us to do that... I never got a solid answer.

Which to everyone who's been following this the last couple of years will know... thats no change.

It didn't work out for football using the Olympic Stadiums in Germany and Spain.

What's makes anyone think it will work here, how many clubs have playing around an full sized Olympic running track ?

Not quite an Olympic running track

1. Thames Ironworks (cycle track) moved
