Re: Parking at the OS
I will have 3 spaces minimum available every game in hackney wick (sounds further than it is!)
My work unit is the last row of units that never got knocked down for the stadium so it's pretty much on my work door step. Plenty of room to park and about a 5-7 min walk door to door
So if anyone remembers this and needs to park when we move your more than welcome

Re: Parking at the OS
There will be 257 car park spaces on match days at the o.s, all other parking is to be regulated with cpz extended, nearby carparks such as west fields, Stratford old centre, Morrison's Stratford, tescos bow and asdas Leyton to have parking restrictions in place, plus pirate carparks to be regulated, these plans are all set out in the planning applications.
Re: Parking at the OS
I dont know how they intend to set up parking restrictions, especially at Westfield. Proof of purchase? Oh well, just do some shopping.

I have heard somewhere that they plan to have a system to validate parking tickets during events at Westfield, o.k I suppose if you bring along family members to shop while you are at the game, asdas at leyton had parking restrictions in place for the Olympics, and we also had extended cpz, which personally I hope will back in place.

I'm pretty sure they do, and the cost ramps up after a couple of hours IIRC.James P wrote:I thought even shoppers had to pay for parking at Westfield.

Track suits were the order of the day.
The place is a complete dump.
I also read recently there had been a few glassings in the bar.
Not been near the place for a good year though.

Re: Parking at the OS
Mushy is correct that there has been trouble at Aspers for some time now, they have had their alcohol licence revoked, due to a serious assault by door staff on a customer, they have had to use plastic glasses for a number of weeks because of earlier troubles. I am sure the council will be keeping a close eye on the place when the football starts.

I'm shocked, truly, I am .gavrosh wrote: Basically, they intend to heavily restrict parking options.
Re: Parking at the OS
Reading through the planning register that gavrosh has posted, it says there will be parking restrictions in place within a 30 min walk of the stadium and all car parks near to the stadium will have restrictrions, Westfield will be introducing a validation of parking tickets during events, with a £25 charge for failure to validate. Stratford station main entrance will be for non event entry and exit only, with after event entry introduced via a specified route to the northern ticket hall via a queueing area, there will be a specified route to west field international and queueing area, pudding mill lane will have no entry for trains back to Stratford but a queueing system for west bound trains, hackney wick will also have no entry for trains to Stratford, supporters will be encouraged to walk to west ham.Not sure how you exit the stadium and go to west fields after, or the bus station and if you go to westfields or the bus station after how they plan to stop you using the main entrance for stratford station.

Re: Parking at the OS
I would have thought they would want fans spending money in the shops, restaurants and bars etc at Westfield not discourage it.
Park at Westfield with two going football and two going shopping type of thing is also something which could have worked.
Doesn't bother me either way but seems a bit short sighted in terms of who has money to spend.

Re: Parking at the OS
The retention plan that ive pasted into the other thread specifically mentions special deals between events at the OS and spending money at Westfield.
There are too car parks in the Olympic Park that are cheaper than Westfield and nearly always empty, at least at the moment.
Westfield also has the ability to build more car parks if needed. They've got a load of undeveloped land that they had penciled in for a snow dome, but I havent heard about that plan for a good couple of years now.

Re: Parking at the OS
For those who think they will be able to park at Westfield, unless you leave someone to spend the afternoon shopping you will have to pay at least £25. Parking tickets will have to be validated during the game (from 10 minutes after kick off to 15 minutes before final whistle I think) otherwise there will be a large charge.
The lack of parking, walk to stadium / station and herding of fans to queue away from Westfield are going to come as a surprise to some fans who complain about a 20 minute walk to Plaistow or East Ham for queue free departure from the Boleyn.
