Ac Milan average 40-50k at the moment purely because they are ****, a bit of success and that goes over 60k
Seems short sighted to reduce capacity by that much just because then club is going through a patch where the crowds are small
It follows the basic NFL model. Even though the stadiums are larger in the US, most do not have the capacities to match demand. Thus they can charge more, and ensure demand for corporate facilities.
I guess Milan would prefer 60,000 people applying for tickets in a 40k stadium than a 80k one.

Cash driven. When the good times as they undoubtedly will for them come back, they'll have a full stadium, full of people who can afford to pay the top dollar they will be charging. Therefore driving regular fans away.
For years Italian sides have lagged behind us in terms of money making and commercial avenues. This is their first steps on the road to address that. Increase demand and push prices up accordingly
