Looking at the planning document which is now on Newham's planning site, there is reference that at the Priory Road end part of the stadium structure will be retained within a public park.
Sorry, if this has come up before but first time i've heard this.
I was looking at documents a moment ago, they must close access after a certain time as can't get back in at moment.

Re: Part of East Stand to remain in redevelopment?
stadium being completely demolished I'm afraid.
only thing being retained on the site is the tree near the front gates and the soil around it, because peoples ashes have been buried there.
Upton Park is not a listed building like Highbury.

The text from Page 16...
An east west pedestrianised Legacy Route is proposed, beginning at a Memorial
Garden on Green Street where the two Memorial trees are retained. The route
tower gatehouse
located in the current location of the towers on the western facade of the
Stadium building. This route forms a public piazza through the site along the
centre line of the existing football pitch and ends on Priory Road where it is
proposed to retain part of the Stadium structure within a 1687 sqm public linear
park along Priory Road......
Looking at drawing about (thank you for posting), it looks like the similar to the current concrete pillars that are down Priory Road. Strange part to keep if that's the case. It notes within the 'park' so might be something else.
First link still works but 2nd doesn't for some reason. Here is the replacement:

Proposed to keep the structure, so it won't probably happen.
