Billy Bonds Stand

Post by a86 »

Now I wonder whether the club will name a stand after Billy Bonds.

West Ham Captain & twice FA CUP Winner surely he should be honoured at the club other than a trophy.

he is our joint most glorified west ham player, if brooking gets a stand, then I reckon Bonzo should.

thoughts?

In my opinion only Bobby Moore rates above Billy is the annals of players who have played for our great club.

However, I am always uneasy about naming things, building statues to people still alive. It just does not seem right Therefore, if I was naming the stands after anyone it would be Moore, Greenwood, Lyall and, perhaps most controversially, Johnny Byrne. All people who in different ways helped transform our club from a run of the mill team to a big name with a great tradition

Great idea
But
We can only name 2 stands and they have been named.

Saying that, why?
New stadium, that bonds or others have never graced so why name stands after them.
Surely the betway stand or marathon bet would bring in more money after all that's what the moves about generating income.

In my opinion no other player comes close to Bonzo so they better name a stand after him. :scarfer:

Given that the retractable Lower Tier will be entirely separate from the Upper Tier, and they'll be a huge gap between them in Football Mode, then perhaps there should be 4 nameable 'stands' just in the Lower Tier alone...?

Personally would only like to see Moore with a stand named after him. Never agreed with Sir Trev getting a stand named after him.

Plenty of other potential areas in and around the ground to brand and name after former club greats...

Boleyn Wall
Bonds Street
Brooking Bridge
Lyall & Greenwood Suite

I didn't think we could name any stand as it happens to be one giant bowl?
