Delay to Olympic Stadium naming rights kick-off

REBRANDING of the Olympic Stadium has been delayed and a naming rights partner for the east London venue is now not expected to take effect until next year.

A blue-chip company had been tipped to buy naming rights by the end of last year, but a spokesperson for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park said a deal would not be announced before the Rugby World Cup, which starts in September and will be partly staged at the stadium. Any partnership would not take effect until 2016, when West Ham United are due to move into the venue, they added.

I think I read somewhere that initially all the naming rights income would go to the LLDC in order to recuperate the conversion costs for the OS as soon as possible, after that there should be a split of the naming rights income between the LLDC and West Ham as anchor concessionaire.

This might only kick in after ten years or so though...

Interesting yes, but the research was done 16 years ago in 1999!

We have been led to believe that we won't get any of it.

I'd be surprised if we didn't though

Karen Brady said that we will NOT get any naming rights concessions in this meeting with the House of Lords..

Go forward to 17 minutes and 40 seconds.

All the naming rights will go to the LLDC.

The Baroness is not going to lie to the House of Lords is She? This meeting is public record so can be easily revisited and cross checked.

Unless the club can renegotiate any naming rights deal, I expect what She said to be the case.

Defending the decision, West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said: "For anyone who thinks we have had a free ride, we most certainly haven't. We want to pay our way and we accept we have to pay our way. We will put in a lump sum, we will pay a rent that will cover most of the running costs and then we will share naming rights and other revenues.

This is from the GLA's Regeneration Committee site visit to West Ham United FC at the Boleyn Ground, Upton Park

02 September 2014

Being at the Stadium, West Ham expects to attract broadcast rights and some limited naming rights. Other benefits include new infrastructure, 1 million visitor footfall and prospective customers annually. The club will open the stadium to different people from different cultures.

This way, the club can get a good idea of the types of businesses that are attracted to the area. West Ham told the Committee that the board knows how to make the destination work. West Ham has given up the majority share venue naming rights and catering at the Olympic Stadium, but the stadium gives a platform to generate new revenue elsewhere.

So we get a minor share. Still, a share we get.

In all fairness we shouldn't get ANY naming rights money , we've built the square root of f*** all .

Hopefully the tax payer who has funded this enormous white elephant will get a chunk .

Whether you like it or not is irrelevant - and frankly I'm amazed that any West Ham fan would want us to have a weaker financial deal for the stadium - we get a share of naming rights. Given the attractiveness of the Olympic Stadium, Premier League Football, and international athletics, as well as major concerts, even a minor share is likely to significantly exceed anything we could ever have hoped to get at Upton Park.

Defending the decision
She said exactly the same thing in the meeting with the House of Lords, in the video I posted. But when pushed for an answer She said no as clear as day.

What She was saying is what the club COULD offer if allowed to move.

The LLDC have already made their mind up though and will get 100% of the naming rights.
