Mr Palermo,
please don't patronise me.
I happen to be one of your so called coffin dodgers sitting in one of the best seats at the Boleyn, East Lower, G128.
For your information, following my visit today, with my family, we have been allocated 5 seats together,
Block136 Row 9 Seats 270 etc.
From the very able and professional presentation it appears that these arrangements are at very least as good, if not better than our present seats. Maybe the rake is not quite so good but the spacing is better,as is the access,
The proof of course will be in the actuality, however you cannot dispute the fact that they are cheaper, £99 for my Grandson, £900 for my Son and Nephew, and for this old coffin dodger a very good discount of 50%,so £450 for me. about 24 quid a game.
As I appear unable to meet your criteria as a supporter, far too old it seems I'll see if Matron can find someone to escort me.
I understand that the whole move is deeply unpopular with you, but to me a rail trip and a 15 minute limp is far better than my present arrangement of driving and parking in Southern Road ,if we are lucky.
Sorry to disappoint you but hard as I try I cannot feel exploited and if as you suggest the prices become over inflated, I can exercise my right to decline.
please don't patronise me.

Re: Your Plus 2 for Stratford
It is a lower price. It is not "so called". The view is pure speculation until we have all been in there with the retractable seating. You are just making stuff up now to support your bitter campaign of negativity. No doubt you are becoming desperate as the mood changes towards excitement in favour of the move. You do not have one single FACT to back up your statements and are beginning to appear just a bit silly.the pink palermo wrote:
Clawhammer, your so called lower price will be eroded within 2 years at Stratford , but the shittier view will be yours forever .
Think of all the coffin dodgers currently on the half way line in the East stand , they face a huge price hike for a comparable seat at Stratford, forced to pay full price in the 1966 club .
And btw , I too have been inside the Athletics stadium , and in my opinion the band 3/4 supporters have been sold down the river .

If the mods believe I have broken the rules of this forum they will sanction me so I'll continue posting as I do until they find reason to , thank you .ironworks41 wrote: Mr Palermo,

Where is that in proximity to the half way line ?ironworks41 wrote: I happen to be one of your so called coffin dodgers sitting in one of the best seats at the Boleyn, East Lower, G128.
So .ironworks41 wrote: For your information, following my visit today, with my family, we have been allocated 5 seats together,

I'd expect nothing less from people who are being paid to do so , how low are your expectations ?ironworks41 wrote: From the very able and professional presentation
So you believe you can get in and out easier from your seat but you have reservations as to the view .Tell me what you go to a game for ? To see it or have a nice seat in the fresh air ?ironworks41 wrote: it appears that these arrangements are at very least as good, if not better than our present seats. Now you're getting warm .ironworks41 wrote: The proof of course will be in the actuality,
That answers my question about proximity .There are 1966 seats blocked out in the prime location for which no concession prices are offered , so those people who do take those seats will, when they turn 67 be forced to relocate or forgoe the cheaper coffin dodger price .ironworks41 wrote: however you cannot dispute the fact that they are cheaper, £99 for my Grandson, £900 for my Son and Nephew, and for this old coffin dodger a very good discount of 50%,so £450 for me. about 24 quid a game.
Que ?ironworks41 wrote: As I appear unable to meet your criteria as a supporter,.
In the past 3 weeks we have had threats of two rail strikes .You can look forward to multiple fixture rearrangements going forward on that basis .ironworks41 wrote: I understand that the whole move is deeply unpopular with you, but to me a rail trip and a 15 minute limp is far better than my present arrangement of driving and parking in Southern Road ,if we are lucky.
The prices, generally, rise season upon season .We all know it ,we all experience it .Why put yourself in denial at this stage of your life ?ironworks41 wrote: Sorry to disappoint you but hard as I try I cannot feel exploited and if as you suggest the prices become over inflated, I can exercise my right to decline.

Fact 1 .Only 19,000 seats in the new stadium would fit inside the footprint of the Boleyn .That means over 16,000 supporters will enjoy a view further away than they do currently .
Fact 2 .In addition to the 1966 seats in the East side that will no longer be available for concession pricing there are a further 1000 in the West side .All in prime locations , the comparable seating at the Boleyn are all available to concessions .
Fact 3 .I currently sit exactly on the half way line at the Boleyn .I have yet to be shown what they are offering at Stratford .I know already though it won't be a comparable seat with a comparable view for a cheaper price .
Fact 4 .You were quick out of the blocks slagging the club on the loyalty discount scheme .They've bought you off cheaply ain't they .

Re: Your Plus 2 for Stratford
I did not slag the club. I pressed for them to honour a contract made by their predecessors. I honestly think they were unaware of it. They did the decent thing and I was happy with that. The move to the OS appears to me to be fair and transparent. You really are getting desperate aren't you as your "so called" crusade teeters towards your inevitable humiliation?the pink palermo wrote: Oh dear .

Does that mean that it will be a bad view? You don't know do you?
Fact 2 .In addition to the 1966 seats in the East side that will no longer be available for concession pricing there are a further 1000 in the West side .All in prime locations , the comparable seating at the Boleyn are all available to concessions .
There will be 54000 seats so plenty in good positions. We all know that if you pay more you get a better view. I have no problem with that.
Fact 3 .I currently sit exactly on the half way line at the Boleyn .I have yet to be shown what they are offering at Stratford .I know already though it won't be a comparable seat with a comparable view for a cheaper price .
You have stated that you will not go to the Olympic Stadium .Repeatedly.Ad Nauseum. You are not seriously suggesting that you are actually going along to check out the facts are you? It might be the sensible, sane, non posturing thing to do but it would be massively hypocritical and you would be rightly slaughtered if you did.
Fact 4 .You were quick out of the blocks slagging the club on the loyalty discount scheme .They've bought you off cheaply ain't they .

You are clearly happy with the move and the way it affects your match day experience and I am sure you will not be the only one as it's the prime seats that are currently being allocated, but not sure you can call the move fair and transparent particularly with the bring along 2 who may not of held a season ticket before in front of current ticket holders, and as for transparent try finding out where our current band 3 or band 4 or family ticket holders will be sitting in the stadium, I have the same as you been going since the mid sixties and admit Upton park is not what it was and don't mind change , but would have preferred a purpose built football stadium or a redeveloped Boleyn not a converted athletics stadium, which with the retractable seating will look like a stadium within a stadium, as for the facilities they may be better, but not sure how good for those sitting in the upper tiers who at half time will have to make their way down 6 flights of stairs to the Lower concourses. I also went to the Olympics not that I was especially interested in athletics but to take a look around, although I had a
Thoroughly good day I came away with the impression it was not good for football, I am going again in the summer for the athletics and rugby to give it a chance, but I cannot see once the retractable seating is in with the gaps and the 20,000+ seats screened off it will not win me over.

Why couldn't you do that now? 1 stop to West Ham, then 2 stops to Upton Park? Takes all of 10 mins (I know, I've done it before).clawhammer wrote:25 minutes on the train from Billericay. 2 stops. Drink before and after in Billericay probably. The improved accessibility will be a real boon.

Re: Your Plus 2 for Stratford
Those who have been to Stratford so far seem happy! Try to put yourself in their position. You have to find a solution BUT moaning that it can't be done is not an option so come up with options which you can defend against the moaners and the people who just want West Ham United to fail. I can't wait for all of the positive alternatives to be put forward.e10hammer wrote:Clawhammer

They have to fill 54000 seats. This means they must find 20000 more punters. So where do you find them. Fairest way is via existing ST holders (rather than entirely new bods). So you start with Band 1 ST holders
and, fairs fair, they will want to sit together in Band 1 seats. And so on through the bands. I am in Band 3 and one of my mates is going to bring his 10 year old daughter and, of course, she must sit with us. She will jump ahead of Band 4 ST holders but what do you suggest?
and as for transparent try finding out where our current band 3 or band 4 or family ticket holders will be sitting in the stadium, How can they tell until Band 1 and 2 have been processed?I have the same as you been going since the mid sixties and admit Upton park is not what it was and don't mind change , but would have preferred a purpose built football stadium or a redeveloped Boleyn not a converted athletics stadium,Me too mate but we could never afford it. This move does involve compromises but as far as I can see it is mostly good news. which with the retractable seating will look like a stadium within a stadium, as for the facilities they may be better, but not sure how good for those sitting in the upper tiers who at half time will have to make their way down 6 flights of stairs to the Lower concourses. Mr Palermo,
1) Your whole reference to coffin dodgers is both patronising and disrespectful.
2) My standards and expectations were high. They were exceeded.
3) stood to watch many matches from the chicken run, until it was demolished, enjoying watching a football match with my mates. That comment was desperate crap.
4) Patronising again.
5) Our seats are not 1966 if that's what you are implying.
6) As opposed to missing the kick off because of traffic on the A 13 and then trying to park.
7) Prices rise for everything, when it becomes a choice of eating or West Ham, that's when I will decide.
Frankly if you and the other Luddites had had their way, we would be still playing at the Memorial Ground in the Ryman League whilst our core supporters drifted off to watch Tottenham.
For a usually erudite , intelligent and knowledgeable poster ( I can do patronising too) I find your comments puzzling

Re: Your Plus 2 for Stratford
But if you haven't got the exact same seat, exact same row with the exact same distance to the pitch then you have been conned... You can't possibly be happy with an alternative
The sooner people stop comparing it to the BG and just pick the seats they want at the new stadium the easier the process will be
It's NOT going to be exactly the same as the BG....

Quite the reverse actually , meaning what you have been offered is nothing like what you have now .If you are happy with it, fine , but they ain't comparable seats .ironworks41 wrote: 5) Our seats are not 1966 if that's what you are implying.
Set off earlier .ironworks41 wrote: 6) As opposed to missing the kick off because of traffic on the A 13 and then trying to park.
Not true .Many items are sold at lower prices when demand goes up or time passes - semi conductors for example or mobile phones .ironworks41 wrote: 7) Prices rise for everything, when it becomes a choice of eating or West Ham, that's when I will decide.

Some of us have tried to see the move from every perspective , from the benefits some will get in the £289 seats, balanced against those who are surrendering prime seats with concessions to corporate , to the needs of the club to be solvent , and the fans desire to see better players and football .ironworks41 wrote: For a usually erudite , intelligent and knowledgeable poster ( I can do patronising too) I find your comments puzzling
Had the club been properly transparent from day one it would have been a whole lot easier

 Because "core support" are the type to just go follow another club!!ironworks41 wrote: Frankly if you and the other Luddites had had their way, we would be still playing at the Memorial Ground in the Ryman League whilst our core supporters drifted off to watch Tottenham.
Or the OS could alienate a lot of the core support as it will be a plastic, tourist trap for a middle class jolly up? I know people at my work who fancy a £289 ST - one bird doesn't even like football let alone WHUFC but just sees it as a cheap day out of the house at a fashionable venue to tell her mates about! Lets face it, how many people on here (along with their bird/wife/mate/neighbour) have suddenly found the time and money to buy a ST (prob Band 1/2) for the OS, but didn't have the time or money to do so at the BG? Is that the core support we'd lose?
I wouldn't mind as much if the place catered for both, but it's clear who the sole target audience is and it's not the likes of me who like a load of beer, roll in 1min before KO buying nothing from the club shop, swear and sing a bit, then piss off back to the pub. Band 4s like me are well back in the queue probably stuck in then gods with those as a plus-2 or new "fans" just on a jolly or there to see "City's Superstars" as it's a cheap dayout.

I said I don't think the club should have used the word "comparable" it's subjective...brownout wrote:

You and Pinky will say that comparable means the same distance from the pitch and the exact same row and relation to the halfway line
Others will say it's for example I sit behind the goal now and I'll get a seat behind the goal at the OS
Others may just say I have a decent seat at the BG and I'll get a decent seat at the OS
Some may want to move location, is that then comparable etc...
Some may consider price to be more important than seat, others choose their seating due to atmosphere and not view

Hadleigh,
I'm like you, would love to walk along Barking Road from the Greengate, stop for another in the Village where I meet my mates, arrive at the chicken run half hour before kick off, sound off for ninety minute, abuse Monty and the Leyton Silver Band, the opposition and the blind eyed git of a referee, Go back to Mums for me dinner and off to Romford Dogs for the evening.
Sadly it's a lost world, so we can either walk away like Pinky threatens, or make do with what's left and ignore the shitty bits.
Me, as I get older I have learnt life aint always fair, it's about the East End/West Ham way of making the best of a bad job.
In the end it's about personal choice, I was just recounting my experience yesterday, you all have to make up your own minds as to what's best for your football fix. I'm West Ham, Ryman or Prem, always have been always will.
What I meant when I was talking about the Luddites was that yes we would still be the best supported club in the Ryman, with crowds of nearly a thousand, but what do you suppose become of the other 30000 fanswho regularly turn up. Who would they go to.
